Kimboy - yes indeed the situation is dire. I am heavily involved with SA but luckily am not there at present. The virus is spreading like wildfire and will have to run it's course. All alcohol sales are prohibited and a new night time curfew in place. I have no idea how much GDP is being effected and as usual the company remains tight lipped. It is a worry although most companies are still operating as closing down a second time would bring financial disaster.I am due to go back in October but will await news.

I don't think Martin Oii intends to take the company over. IMV his intention is simply to out the value. Gerard is his spy in the cab to make sure this happens, as much as possible.

The AGM may may be interesting as anything will only be passed with his agreement. I am expecting one or two changes.

I've been saying this for years, the Market Makers will lean on this til Kingdom come. UK small cap Mkt Makers are fvkin morons. Their entire careers consist of keeping flat books, and utilising massive bid/offer spreads to rip people's eyes out every which way. And they know there is very limited interest in a stock like GDP. So when they see a seller, they call the price down, scare some weak holders into selling more and call them down more. By the time the share price is down 10%, they can still sell stock close to the offer price and make money.
GDP isn't ever going to reflect its real value while its up to the Mkt Makers.

Thats where Martin Ooi comes in, pretty soon he will be obligated to make a bid for the company (if he keeps buying).
If he doesn't, the company itself will have to show strength. Even that may not be enough to get the price to where it should be (talking north of 10p). So the company will need to
a) shows big director purchases (opposite to what we saw this week)
b) start a share buyback programme
c) reinstate dividend
d) take the company private (perhaps in conjunction with Martin Ooi)

I think I've been in this name for 6yrs+, I sick to the back teeth of the underperformance. Nothing has changed. AIM stocks are too easy to keep down. Someone/some effect with bigger influence than the Mkt Makers needs to step in.

Gap filled just added more.

I see no problem here sango recently bought Martin Ooi upped his stake to 20.2% 33 million shares, Gerard not sold any, so what if Vredens selling 1 million shares things happen in life were money is needed urgently, they've all been snapped up now volume been pretty low over the past month or so with results just round the corner volume building perfect time to sell them quick no fuss.

I think Hansie either had to sell immediately or hold for the long term. There is also not just the option cost but also the tax he would have to pay.

On the forthcoming quarter results we should remember that at least 20 days of it were on care and maintenance in SA.

The assumption has to be Hansie desperately needed the money and couldn't wait until after the close period. Remember, directors only have short Windows in which to sell and the period running up to the results is a close period. It's also an indication that nothing is happening with kili or the inside information would have prevented him from trading.

I don't know enough about kili to express any strong views or wise insight. With Covid, my assumption is that a lot of corporate activity will have been delayed. This includes attempts to sell kili, introduce new activities and develop relationships. I expect everything to have been pushed back by 6 - 9 months.

Lowtrawler you are probably right but if the results are going to be stellar than why would Hansie not sell on the results? Another mystery?

I've seen too many companies run by directors as if they were the owners and not caring about shareholders. It's very easy in companies of this size. The only thing that really stands in the way is if the directors are also significant shareholders. We have no significant shareholdings by directors in GDP. I have no idea why Hansie sold his shares but whether it's for a divorce settlement, new car or whatever, it is not behaviour I want to see from a director. With current gold pricing, it's difficult to see how the results can be anything less than stellar. All we can do is wait.

Kili is indeed a mystery and when it comes to investments I do not like mysteries? The board have told us that it is a valuable asset. Either they are misguided (greedy)- most likely. Why no news and sure continued drain on the bottom line. You would think that with POG at 1800 ish someone would take a punt? GKG previous commented on interest but subsequently no news? hansie selling his shares makes me fear that once again the figures will not live up to expectation? Am I being overly pessimistic? What are your expectations Kimboy? Always happy to hear your thoughts.

Kili? Kimboy do you think given current POG and future expectations that Shanta might be interested? They are already in Kenya and Tanzania? Or is it just too small?
