Good news:

Upon perforating there was immediate loss of completion fluid into the Simiti, indicating favorable natural fracture and/or matrix permeability, the levels and density of which indicate above normal pressures. Surface stimulation operations are expected to commence within the next week.

Fair comment RCTurner2, although HOIL has eventually come good but every time he generates some buying interest in GED a large seller (currently FIL presumably and before them First Eagle) starts to offload. If, and it is a massive IF, GED one day announce something truly positive, unless another large seller is around ST could be right but as ever with the board of GED the waiting game goes on and on....

I know I have given PHILO124 a bit of stick as he does tend to bang on about 'Director Share Buying' but it does seem very strange that Faulkner & Voss have been reluctant for a long time to snap a few up at this price. On the other hand, knowing their track record they may just be waiting for the share price to fly over 140p before snaffling up a few more :-}

ST's predictions in the O&G arena have not been great.

Yet another ST recommendation today, hence the dramatic increase in volume of shares traded.

He concludes 'the company's Bolivar and the Bocachico area development properties in the price for nothing. Clearly, we need a material change investors' perception of the company and its prospects to kick start the share price into action. Ultimately, that means upbeat news on the drilling front. But it's well worth noting that Global Energy's volatile shares could absolutely fly if such news is forthcoming due to its low free float: 86 per cent of the share capital is controlled by the top nine shareholders, including HKN. I have taken this fact into account when making this recommendation.

I also note that Global Energy shares are trading close to support and remain oversold with the 14-day relative-strength indicator (RSI) around 40. So although they have yet to come good and are adrift of my advised buy in price ('Insiders major buy signal', 17 Dec 2012), ahead of the Catalina-1 well result, I continue to rate them a buy on a bid-offer spread of 68p to 70p.'

Well, if there is no decent positive news in the next couple of months I will exit and take my loss, there are far too many seriously underperforming small cap oilers and miners with incompetent management around.

Tongue in cheek hopefully Hyper:)

I thought the news was ok, family cosiness aside, and the smaller upfront due to the smaller potential Bocachio vs Bolivar was fair enough but still plenty to go round, all we need is to see it happening. Not much to ask, then happy days. Theoretically.

Having missed end Apr with Bolivar it would go down well if they managed to improve on the revised estimate they gave for late Q2.

Following on from their 'farm-in' to the Bolivar Contract Area Everest have taken a piece of Bocachico.

Everest pays $1m up front (paid $5m to get into Bolivar) and will fund re-entry and fracking of 2 existing wells within 1 year, and drill 1 new well within 2 years.

Having spent more than a year supposedly pursuing farm-ins it's remarkable that GED awards the deals to a concert party. I was hoping that we might have seen an outside influence that would bring operational competence as well as investment capital to the project.

The first Bolivar re-entry should have spudded by now: it was to be 6 weeks from March 10th. But no word yet. I hope the operational delays and fumbles are not set to continue -:(

It seems the HKN concert parties are increasing their grip on GED. Anybody like to comment on the likely outcome of this for us minority shareholders?

Hi Steve, I think it might be a typo error, not that it matters really as the brokers targets are a bit pointless with an animal such as GED.

By the summers end let us hope that all their respective targets have been blown out of the water by the positive news and oil that is set to flow :-}

Nice one Philo 124, very droll.

Question for CyprusSteve, where did you get the Nplus1 Brewin target price of 196p from? Seems remarkable that they have the same figure of 196p as Northland. I wasn't aware that Nplus1 Brewin were even covering Global.

Hi gerald,
15,000 shares is a very small Directors buy, but, nevertheless a buy is a buy.
I am sure he has options as well.
Personally I believe the share price has bottomed, and represents a strong buying opportunity, but, that is only my opinion, and time alone will tell.
Regards
Steve

Interesting a director just picked up 15,000 shares. Has this thing bottomed?
