Now over 3 months since last update and nothing....you would think that they should at least issue some sort of update on what is going on.

Well, we are now coming up on 3 months since they announced that there would be news on the farm out "in the near future" so I am ready to be disappointed!

Given that the directors have a major vested interest in getting the share price well up from here you would think that would be enough to get them to get their asses in gear and get the deal done as that should produce an instant 20-30% upside.

It is anyone's guess with a bunch of dinosaurs running the show Salpara111, the unfortunate thing with GED is that there is no one to put any pressure on the board to get their respective fingers out as the board, senior management, HKN and their so called concert parties are all one in reality and it is impossible for any rational investor to have any idea what their agenda is.

One aspect that really fascinates me with GED is that since Simon Thompson tipped Global for the first time way back in December 2012 the share price has gone nowhere after hitting 120p on December 24 2012. He has revisited GED at least 7 times since then, maybe more as I can't be bothered to check the exact number and despite a hell of a lot of buying by private investors in addition to HKN increasing their stake, even now there is a consistent seller offloading thereby meeting the demand. We know that First Eagle have reduced their holding, I can't say I am surprised as they are no doubt as fed up as the rest of us with the lack of positive news but does anyone else have any idea who is also bailing out?

So what it the probability that they can actually get the farm out before the end of the year?
This is turning into a saga of soap opera length proportions.

Buys as sells.
Bought in yesterday at 98.7p and shown as sell. I presume that all the 'sells' @98.6p are also buys.

Simon T. on the case again.

Reckons on a lot of potential upside with 140p his target and likely to prove very conservative by his reckoning if the right farm out deal is struck.

His latest GED comment was in the comments section of the Hitting the Jackpot article and written 4 days ago on 12th Nov. He says that nothing has changed since his last recommendation to buy and advises being patient.

He sometimes reiterates buy recommendations if price has fallen to a more favourable entry point and I imagine this may be the case when he updates on GED.

I note that Simon Thompson finished off his piece in IC today by stating 'Finally, and in response to recent newsflow, I am currently working my way through a number of updates on my following recommendations: Eurovestech (EVT), Global Energy Development (GED), Heritage Oil (HOIL), Bezant Resources (BZT) and Eros (NYSE: EROS).'

I am puzzled as to why he is intending issuing an update on GED as there has been no news since his last column concerning GED on October 17 as far as I know. The only new information I have been able to find is the Phillips Energy Consultants Coverage Note which I flagged in post 2047 on 5 November.

No doubt he will advise his readers to bail out of GED after the EROS IPO balls up :-)

It's certainly a better entry point down here with price having drifted back 20% on no news.

The story is still the same but the shares cheaper. So if the farm-out deal comes off then the upside is that much greater.

Simon T of the IC is still bullish saying that nothing has changed and that investors have to just be patient.

Of course it would help things along if the directors just bought some more shares....

If any of them actually made a fully accounted profit and paid a divi then things might be different!
I say this as a long suffering holder of HOIL who also held JKX and actually managed to exit that one with a small gain after their last disappointing fracking result.
The bottom line is that explorers everywhere are spending increasing $$$$$s for ever diminishing returns. The last big find by an independent was probably GKP but they don't have the $$$$s/resources/infrastructure to actually develop it and are just marking time hoping that a major like Shell or BP turn up with a big bag of money to buy them out.
I am only really interested in this one as there could be a single event driven share price bump from a successful farmout but it is a bit like playing a game of chicken in terms of how long do I wait to take a stake......falling share price Vs chance of missing out on potentially 50% rise.

Starting to look like it will cycle back to low 70s.
Have been watching for a while and IF there is a big farm out coming then the current level is a bargain however they have not been great at execution.
I think I will see what happens this week as they have said that the farmout news is due in the "near future"

Mmmm ... the annual 73p share price would appear to be a better entry price, despite all that keeps being written up on GED in the IC etc.

I have not been told that farm out news is imminent - I was told that they are in a closed period and my interpretation was that this was because of farm out news. Sorry for confusion.

Fair enough Wooster4, if you have been informed directly by someone at GED that farm out news is imminent, then regardless of what may or may not happen to the share price I completely agree with your comments, thanks for the clarification.

Have been told they are in a closed period. With farm out news imminent, they have to be in one - news will likely lead to a rerate which the directors are not allowed to profit from.

Wooster4, I am intrigued to know whether you have contacted GED personally and been told by someone that they are in a closed period or have you assumed that this is the situation due to the possibility of any farm out or sale of assets etc despite the fact that this has been in the public domain for over 12 months?

After Jefferies were appointed on 7 November 2012 as their financial advisor the director buying started in earnest on 19 November 2012 and finished abrubtly on 10 December 2012 and since then only Faulkner has stumped up £20,000 on share purchases the week after the interims were announced.

I think protean has raised a perfectly valid question and I personally don't understand why GED is in a closed period right now unless you have been told otherwise.

For example if you had put your house on the market last November and it is still for sale some 12 months later why is it more likely that you will sell it now, say anytime in the future or maybe not at all?

Protean - if you look back over 18 months, they have all bought shed loads. Most aim commodity stocks have been savaged over past few years yet few of the directors have taken the opp to purchase shares. Most have, instead, just been taking option grants which have zero risk to the individual. I take comfort from all the purchases here. Also worth noting that these are always being tipped in the various publications and are widely touted as a takeover target. Any sniff of good news, these will fly - the free float is tiny!
