This is all about payments now. Late and $8m short last month and now end of Aug and still nothing coupled with the 8th Aug MNR report.It is hitting Genel no doubt about it.POO has rebounded from $40 to high $46+ for the month so it's not POO.

Suspect oil will run up ahead of the OPEC meeting. Reality likely to be no change in policy and a subsequent reverse but next 3 weeks or so should be very supportive.

I expect Brent to re-test 2016 highs and GENL likewise.

(Ecofin Agency) - Sterling Energy has announced that the operator of the Odewayne Production Sharing Agreement (PSA), Genel Energy, has been awarded 2 years extension to the current periods of the PSA by the Government of the Republic of Somaliland.Under the PSA, the third exploration period will now expire by November 2, 2018, fourth period (which is optional) will expire by May 2, 2020, fifth period (optional) by May 2, 2021 while the sixth period (optional) will end by May 2, 2022.Minimum work obligations for the exploration periods includes the procurement of a 500km 2D seismic during the third period and the acquisition of 1,000km of 2D seismic and one exploration well in the fourth period.Genel operates the PSA with 50% interest alongside Sterling with 40% interest. Genel is to carry Sterlings costs of all exploration activities during the third and fourth periods of the PSA.The joint venture partners had before announced that the acquisition of a 2D seismic in the large onshore Odewayne PSC block will either begin in late 2016 or early 2017 as seismic operations in Somaliland was postponed for a while as a result of environmental insecurity, Oil News Kenya reports.

short term support line doing its job well and risen from 85 to 102....only a close below 98p would imply new uptrend faltered

for now i think we are heading to retest 140 area, but once 106 taken out on closing basis for a few days, next resistance is "overhead" around 121 area

For now the boring range of 102-106 will give way soon and that will hint direction in short term.....only my best guess so and news, not technicals will be the cause of the big moves, but numbers to watch imvho

Yes key factors affecting Genl:

1) KRG regular monthly payments
2) IMF loan to Iraq and KRG share of it 850m possibly?
3) production which has dropped by 20% v forecast. 56kbpd v 67kbpd forecast. We are waiting on increased
4) turkey stability after recent geopolitical events
5) POO next real jump for Genl when above 52$
6) future potential landing: Peshkabir-2 oct16 gas! probably nov16
7) ISIS risk

But Genl undervalued should be around 112 (IMHO).

so many naive investors...

price of genl is not just linked to oil price but also to likelihood of the KRG being able to afford payments. Baghdad has just resumed exports into KRG pipeline which it had stopped in April hxxp://www.iraqoilreport.com/news/baghdad-resumes-exports-krg-pipeline-19570/ - and this will boost the Kurdistan finances making them more likely to be able to afford paying producers
