21/9/2016 21:35 | "Russia Is Pumping Oil at Its Fastest Pace Since the Soviet Era" These are dangerous times for world peace because Putin has visions of military grandeur and ridiculous plans for military expansion. Unfortunately the over reliance of the Russian economy on hydrocarbon revenues has caused severe financial strains. No real surprise that they are pumping at full pelt. What the article does not highlight is that time is running out for the Russian economy . Their financial reserves will be exhausted in 12 months. As a so called election for the presidency approaches I expect Putin to make some more territorial moves. However, well before then, one might suspect the Russians will be more amenable to production agreements. Trouble is they have a track record of saying one thing and doing another. Honouring production agreements and anything else for that matter is not Putins habit. Next two years could be hairy. On a more cheerful note , Brent has risen to $47.04 as I type. | cyan

18/9/2016 16:26 | Some interesting reading on the LSE GENL board highlighting a Times article on investigations into the AFR collapse. This line caught my attention; "As Afren went into meltdown, Zahawi was recruited as chief strategy officer for another Kurdish oil specialist, Gulf Keystone Petroleum. The part-time job pays him £20,000 a month." Looks like there's at least one who fell on his feet after the Afren disaster. Part-time ; £20k a month! Very good value I am sure, omg! Content to have invested more in GENL last week and thanking my lucky stars never to have touched AFR or GKP. | cyan
