21/12/2022 14:52 | I don't think Henry Cavill was interested in playing Eisenhorn - when asked a couple of years ago he suggested there were more interesting and enduring 40K roles he'd prefer. | cockerhoop
21/12/2022 14:15 | Presumably Amazon will pay them a large amount up front that would be dividended out as per policy? | smcni1968
21/12/2022 03:10 | I would guess the Amazon project will swallow-up the Eisenhorn film. GW scriptwriters have been working on the Eisenhorn film series for a few years. Eisenhorn was mentioned in the January half-year report but not in the full-year report in July. The latter report refers to Media projects but doesn't seem to specifically mention Eisenhorn. It has been said that Henry Cavill would like to act as the Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn. | nod

20/12/2022 09:32 | Nice article in Forbes ... | givmesunshine
19/12/2022 21:20 | Royalty income is highly profitable, with low costs. | nod
19/12/2022 16:44 | Could be a mess if canceled after one season like the lord of the rings and dark crystal series though. Amazon tend to make unwatchable drivel with zero character development out of fantasy franchises. | riskonricky
19/12/2022 15:36 | Looking at the increase in the share price it seems "the market" values the deal at about £350m. Assuming a pe of 20 suggests roughly £20m a year of additional profit. Royalty income in first half 2022 was £13m, I'd say that implies this is a big deal but not transformational. | reabank
19/12/2022 13:09 | Amazon purportedly paid $250m for LOTR prequel rights which were pretty threadbare but a more established IP on the screen.I suspect Amazon are looking to create a long term franchise here to rival Marvel/DC. If they're successful it could be very lucrative for GAW. They certainly don't lack material:-) | cockerhoop
19/12/2022 12:16 | Anyone hazard a guess what the rights are worth? | zoolook
19/12/2022 07:58 | Agree - I thought the HG report was just a bit of fishing based on what had been picked up about Warhammer .. but looks like this is more mature and a more timely announcement was scuppered by the press .. however the potential for GAW is huge .. game changer | givmesunshine
19/12/2022 02:11 | GAW is right to ensure that agreements are all signed-off before moving ahead. New Zealand was disappointed that part-way through the filming of the first season of their Tolkien series, Amazon decided to take future seasons elsewhere. NZ had made a significant investment in the project. | nod
19/12/2022 01:01 | The Amazon announcement suggests it's a done deal. If Amazon made its announcement on Friday morning in California, the London Stockmarket would be closed, preventing GAW from making an announcement outside of trading hours. | nod
18/12/2022 17:49 | I suspect GAW RNS was low key as the deal is yet to be signed and KR would have preferred to have announced a 'done deal'. Once the Hollywood Reporter broke the story an RNS was required as it's clearly material to the company. | cockerhoop
18/12/2022 10:24 | What a statement from Amazon .. Vertigo studios ... at his is huge for GAW - 15% on Fridays doesn't appear to have captured the scale .. GAW announcement was quite low key ... | givmesunshine
18/12/2022 04:59 | Here is Amazon's official announcement, copied to the Warhammer Community site. "Amazon Studios Secures First-of-its-Kind Rights to Warhammer 40,000, With Henry Cavill Set to Star and Executive Produce Global Franchise. Project produced by Amazon Studios includes rights to a universe of Warhammer programming across multiple Amazon entertainment businesses." “It’s great news and we’re absolutely thrilled; we’re working with a fantastic triumvirate in Henry, Vertigo, and Amazon. Henry’s well-known love of Warhammer 40,000—and his passion as a world-builder and storyteller—wi | nod

16/12/2022 13:01 | BBC covers the news "...There's a lot of speculation that Warhammer fan Henry Cavill, no longer in-line to continue as Superman on the silver screen, could be a key part of this adaptation. Perhaps there could be roles for other celebrity 40k fans Ed Sheeran and Vin Diesel?" | pob69
16/12/2022 12:58 | Merchandising rights does not imply lack of licensing revenue. I would hope our management are savvy enough to get a good deal. | epo001
16/12/2022 12:10 | I wondered about thatMaybe it means toys, stickers, posters, and anything else like tee shirts, mugs etc.But not one would hope the models. | kennewil |
