I’m certainly not unhappy about another dividend. It would be nice to have a better handle on where the annual dividend is heading.

It just shows that there's lots of excess cash. Management have always said they'd distribute what they don't need. In the last three year's we've had the upgraded visitor center and the works on expanding manufacturing and tooling. So there should be more coming out in the coming years - until the next factory expansion.

Martin, the dividend of 35p shows that the Board is confident about Christmas trading and doesn't seem to be uncertain about much, if anything.35p is nearly 18% interest on my investment. It always makes me feel good when I calculate my interest rate and prevents me from selling :)

Well that's the first November ex-div since 2012.

Sisters of Battle explanation and update

It's clear from the demand for the starter set and the release of further Sisters product in H2 that new releases will be buoyant for the rest of this year.

I agree. Logic would suggest a 40k 9th Edition in 2020 and June/July are the months for big releases. The wheels then get turning to achieve strong sales over Christmas 2020.GAW has far greater capacity and cash these days to develop new editions.

Regards Warhammer Fantasy talk in my local shop suggested it could be a low key Forge World product rather than a full on release?

40K 9th Edition for June 2020 release?

My son who was a fantasy addict and upset with End Times went nuts when he heard that Fantasy was coming back.

12th man - Blood of the Phoenix is probably the only recent exception that has proved the rule (ie 1 of the few new releases that's had underwhelming sales)

Saying that last FY there was £6-8m of excess new release stock unsold, melted down and recycled so perhaps this year more cautions is being shown - hence the extreme Sisters of Battle shortages.

I wonder how many people are GW customers and not just shareholders. As a customer (plastic crack addict) myself, I can tell you I have never seen demand this high for EVERY SINGLE release they do. They repackage old kits they've had in stock since 2012 and they sell out in minutes globally. Their new products are extremely well liked. They recently announced the return of Warhammer Fantasy (pre AOS version) which is sure to bring back many players that left after AOS was announced. GAW to the moon!

Don't think that Stadia will make any real difference in licensing earnings. None of the GAW games are available/planned on the Stadia platform on launch or in 2020. Additionally, Stadia has a lot of issues on its own and so its success chances are not that high.

This might be behind the FT paywall. Google launching Stadia a platform for games developers to distribute games via its data centres. This can only be more good news for GAW and royalties from its games.

W1, I have not been able to find out who is funding the Eisenhorn project.
Frank Spotnitz's Big Light Productions company is developing Eisenhorn.
Spotnitz was showrunner and then exec producer with Amazon's Man in the High Castle series.

I like the simple quote from co-founder Ian Livingstone in the FT article:

“If you go to games conventions, the players seem to be getting younger, not older,” noted Mr Livingstone, who attributes the games’ enduring appeal to a basic love of soldiers and battle. “Children, and especially boys, have always loved toy soldiers. This is just toy soldiers in a fantasy realm.”

There's a content war going with Netflix, Apple, Disney, Amazon etc (see this week's Economist). GAW has 50 years worth of stories and characters that are ripe for development on the screen and is why the organisation is now divided into two divisions: miniatures and entertainment. The deal with Marvel is just a taster.

What makes Disney so valuable is its back catalogue of IP. GAW is the Disney of fantasy. It's a narrower genre but with huge appeal in Asia (e.g World of Warcraft), which is as yet untapped for GAW.

I've been in these since wheels came off in 2007 after the LOTR debacle and would not normally hold a share this richly valued; especially as it has track record of slipping up but it finds itself in the right place at the right time and it is genuinely a global business with a management team who are properly seeking to exploit its full value.

Earlier this year I was watching the Avengers End Game with my son and what really caught my attention was the audience engagement. They were (as was my son) literally cheering on different characters. It got me thinking about what if GAW could do the same!

Carnage in the UK - GAW sold out in less than 10 minutes.

Multiple independent sites fell over with the strain - easier getting Glastonbury tickets!

Hope you managed to get some Sisters of Battle Nod? Pre-Order Sold out already in NZ! I imagine they'll be filling the stores with fresh stock to create a buzz on Black Friday.

Exciting stuff. Throw into that mix the TV Series starring Gregor Eisenhorn. If the series is a hit, GAW could develop models and games centred around The Inquisitor, as Dan Abnett's novels already are.

Decent article highlighting the recruitment themes we've talked about on here for a while. Incidentally the photo highlights the new contrast paints (where the floating pigments settle in the crevices to create contrast effects with a single coat).Regards the moan about the AGM time - GAW have arranged 2 institutional days this year in Mar & Oct to highlight the progress to the city.
