We had that discussion last week with no outcome because it's clear little will be known until the 12 March.

Anyone have any figures for how profitable GFRD is likely to be now it's a standalone construction business - with wafer thin margins ?

flood defences are an area GFRD do business and have experience.

Flood defences, infrastructure spending, I wonder if the UK have the capacity and know how to make these grand plans come true.

GFRD must be worth a punt long term, the right share in the right sector at the right time.

Going to be volatile isn't it.

This government is ensuring that the construction sector is a hot place to be..

BBY, KIE, COST, KLR they have all caught fire.

Any sector that gets hot ..yes you get the performance... but the volatility goes through the roof as well.

We better get used to it ..

Had to be a pull-back at some stage. SRC seems well placed in respect of coming infrastructure opportunities.

thanks a lot for insight into this company dave and much appreciated . I mainly trade shares nowadays but still need to be aware of fundamentals even if a day trade as anything can happen in markets

Pre deal this thread speculated on share price of somewhere between b*gger all to £1.
I didn't guess as too many variables and NO FORWARD PLAN for the cash and forward EPS in my view is the key element for an ongoing company, so no plan no forward EPS for calculations.
That it is now double that high end guess at £2 (well £1.994) is quite something we didn't expect.
Still a few weeks to 12/3/20 HY results where some comment can be put on HS2 and what their forward plans are as "NewCo".
IMO

I have not followed this stock but it has a nice uptrending chart . It is now virtually solvent as I see it crashed a while ago and was presumably in administration ?

Cheers bigbigdave. I don't normally watch these i/v's as what they say can't be believed for many reasons, other side never seems to heed oppositions views, no one learns anything, nothing achived...but.. good to hear him say about opportunity to train up new generation of skilled workers.

The budget night be delayed but interim results won't be so GFRD need a good strategy to make profit (though probably not the Chinese).

Looking at my GFRD value 2 years ago, today, with GFRD +VTY on a quick calculation I am around 49% up plus divs.
I'm quite surprised, can't spot error in maths.
Part of course is that change in sector sentiment in last 6 weeks.

So we've ended the day at the Peel Hunt forecast of 190p, wonder if it will go further. Seems construction is holding onto Boris's coat tails. Boris is trying to follow Trump in revving the economy and the FTSE.

My guess is around 10p but that's one of the Figures I'm waiting for.
