I agree with the hold as I think we will see lots of government infrastructure announcements

I usually sell when I see +10% profit but I'll hang on to GFRD & TW. for the next couple of weeks.

I'm lucky enough to be retired and when the weathers not too good I can spend as long as I want in front of a computer, so my opinion of what to and what not to buy can change by the hour.

I've ben adding Kier this last two weeks, having a good run on those too.

We'll have to call you Oliver.
"Please sir, I want some more".

Wow.. missed todays increase, curious how before the BVS split 160 ish seemed the boundary pending their new outlook/statement, now smashed that at 184.
Pre-split some folks on this thread IIRC calculated the share price as a few pence.

Stobart also up 4.49%, so possibly some commonality, e.g. HS2 again, and Stobarts rail section.
Stobart have been through management/structure/finance changes so whilst they seem a go ahead company, their unpredictability has put me off.

So was Brexit date ;-)
BJ does seem to be in full steam. I heard him briefly on the radio yesterday and he spoke so fast I thought he was on fast forward, it was akin to adverts reeling of legal terms.
BJ may be another Maggie taking single handed attitude (and Trump too now I think abput it).
Reminds me of famous spitting image sketch where Maggie has order taken in restaurant..

(OT but only 10 seconds long)

Not just critical - it's a legal and financial requirement.

DR_Smith - Boris has already sent his yes men into number 11 to ensure Rishi Sunak comes up with what Boris wants in the Budget.

I don't there's much chance of it being delayed, as you say the end of the Financial year is looming and imo having a Budget announced before that date is critical.

gbh2. Thsnk-you for your thinking.
I have most of folio in building sector and sruggle to find better options in FTSE 350.
I don't go in for trusts and o'seas.
I put some of folio into cash pre brexit etc as, other than housing, it seemed right and now looking to put that money back in, to give a little balance to my skew to housing.

I was surprised like most by Sajid Javids exit, but read..
"He has been replaced as chancellor by Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rishi Sunak - who just seven months ago was a junior housing minister."
so ponder whether housing minister experience will bring any wind of change to building sector, not long to wait to budget.. if the planned date doesn't change, I haven't caught up yet.. hang on..

"Meanwhile, a former adviser to Mr Javid said Downing Street had misjudged the reshuffle and that the Budget could be delayed as a result.".

I don't know the rules, but expect there is high priority for budget to be done before next tax year, so my guess is any delay won't be for too long.

Riley109It does give confidence to have those institutions investing and with our new chancellor in place, infrastructure spending is due to expand greatly. All good news, but I would still like to see a plan.

Dr, I've have been on Hold and would have stayed there IF the Trend in Housing & Construction hadn't taken a sudden turn for the better, as you indicate above there appears to be a Government move towards a significant investment in these sectors.

Admittedly yesterday's purchase increased my ave GFRD share price but it's still way below the current price and imo the Trend is up, that said most of this months spare cash went into TW on the 6th Feb @ 222p a share because for me GFRD is just a Punt until we have some solid information.

I picked up a few during this morning's drop, would have liked to have seen more interest/volume but it's been a bad day across the market, other than in this sector.

I could not justify topping up on the split so it is a bit like a free bet. I say that because there is not the information you need to evaluate what to do. I may be missing either a fantastic opportunity or a crash and burn, who knows
