08/5/2014 19:59 | The problem with SuperDry is that the brand is much more part of the product than say French Connection, Ted Baker and All Saints Spitalfields. With the former the brand is splattered all over the products so this integral factor is the fashion if the name much more than the style. All clothing companies change their style but where the brand name is the fashion and the visual name goes out of fashion then there is no real room for manoeuvre. Its not that simple just to remove the name from the T-shirts,hoodies and sweatshirts as the brand is over the shop door and is the website name.If the name turns naff youre stuck. | she-ra
08/5/2014 18:10 | MMMMMMMmmmm Superdry gear was very popular three years ago with the trendy youff. Two years later there mums + dads are wearing the clothes so its not longer deemed trendy anymore. How many dads wear Addidas blue samba, or any geezer older than 42, more that 50%. The new adverts are young, fresh and trendy not for old farts of Superdry. I popped into BlueWater six weeks ago and the place had customers in it !!! | wellhard

07/5/2014 16:51 | Thanks, thorne3, for your post which rather mirrors my own amateur analysis. If we can see this Company making say 7% on sales then the share price has a long way to run - certainly something beginning with a 2 would not be out of the question. Particularly liked the way that the stock recouped some lost ground late this afternoon - will be interesting to see what it does tomorrow - have a feeling that we could soon see it above yesterday´s high of 92p. | mesquida
07/5/2014 16:37 | Interesting and fair comments. Fingers crossed for the AGM. Still very much long long term. | wellhard
07/5/2014 16:08 | As I was coming into Sheffield yesterday I took the opportunity of visiting the local branch of FC in the Meadowhall Shopping Centre. The unit is well located next to M&S and accordingly experiences a pretty high footfall;I was impressed by the design and range of goods on offer .I engaged in conversation with one of the girls working there and she confirmed, all unprompted by me,that the"restructuring" of the last"18 months or so" had had a significant impact on business. She said that "design and staff management" were the key issues. In particular turnover continues to be strong with some ranges selling out.Interestingly some of the men's ranges were "flying out".The message was one of continued buoyant trading all in all a far cry from the circumstances prevailing 2 years ago.I thought this was quite an encouraging perspective from a girl who told me that her role was essentially that of a section manager having been with FC for a total of 13 years apart from maternity breaks etc. | thorne3
07/5/2014 09:09 | Morning guys. bamboo, sounds good :-) wellhard, I reckon a good chance of cosolidation short term in the run up top the AGM statement which hopefully will be very positive. Maybe a drift if general market conditions deteriorate too much. Long way still to go here though imho. | philanderer |
