25/10/2013 07:25 | Debenhams yesterday highlighted the heavy going in mid market clothing. Personally I think FCCN will warn sooner than later. The Telegraph piece just highlights what a hole they are in despite it trying to read like a PR article. I will watch from the side lines for now until post xmas. | stud-muffin
24/10/2013 18:31 | 40p at year end is far more realistic, looking good. | bamboo2
24/10/2013 18:16 | if it can break here reckon we could see 55-60p fairly soonish | dewtrader
24/10/2013 14:52 | But French Connection, headed by Stephen Marks, who founded the business in 1972 and has a 41.8% stake, is in the midst of an improvement drive. It is reviewing its product and prices and wants to close 15 loss-making stores. The retailer has also hired its first UK head of retail, Simon Donoghue, formerly of Ralph Lauren, to help improve its shops. | beep_beep
24/10/2013 14:37 | FCCN on a screamer | dewtrader
17/10/2013 17:38 | Got the bounce and the volume, so far so good. | bamboo2
17/10/2013 11:11 | Lots of negativity on here........which is good news for me. | amorruso
17/10/2013 08:54 | Really needs to bounce over the next few days with more volume. We might then get a CCI buy signal. | bamboo2
17/10/2013 08:39 | Stud hmv was in debt and technology changed people need clothes ! however I except what your saying. Do you really think fccn going to have a bad year from your sources in retail this Christmas ? You do know october normally poor before run up in Nov and Dec. My view is bad short term poor most have forecast £10m plus loss 2013 medium term depends on the economic recovery of fccn and the country | undervalued companies
17/10/2013 08:20 | Slight correction - if you look at HMV in 09/10 they were largely debt free (not all the year I admit) and many investors took comfort from that. That debt free collapsed and disappeared entirely through 11 and 12. Aside of that my information comes from a very senior manager at the biggest retail chain in the UK - no names - but her day to day week to week sales data is mostly high single digit behind last year with some weeks close to -20%. The chain she is part of cover the same demographic as dear old FCCN. Let see whose correct - I guess Xmas will decide. | stud-muffin
16/10/2013 21:46 | Sadly I am also of the opinion bad news beckons here. The retail estate is the issue and the last results high light the problem, female friends who I have asked also do not understand the current marketing and all (4 so not many but all customers of varying degrees) said it made thm feel less happy with the image. I hated FCCUK and most liked so who knows but at a retail fashion level the major brands are still struggling and have seen no improvement in sales despite the supposed growth. The value of FCCN balance sheet could change adversely quite quickly - see HMV and those that rely on this feature are ignoring the risk. | stud-muffin
16/10/2013 13:42 | Cannot argue with your comments above in the slightest but all is reflected (and much more) in the current market cap of £27m - priced for oblivion so if you take your chance and it comes off then it is an easy multi. | amorruso
16/10/2013 12:57 | Or some major losses to come through christmas rns update. My concern is simple its called fashion the main market are teenagers up to 28 year olds and they go in and out of stores like the plague. This is no thorntons where we can hope for the big fatties to come and increase revenue. Fccn have expensive commercial property tied up with long leases in loss making stores which they cannot get rid of so cannot cut costs where the real savings are to be made. Profit in 2016 if the economy/recovery holds that long and 2015 slight loss forecast. any alternative baggers ? | undervalued companies
16/10/2013 11:32 | Some major selling here......must be about time for me to buy more at this rate. | amorruso
02/10/2013 13:39 | Shanklin Interesting link about ebay site. I am so glad that they have an ebay site that is slick and modern and easy to navigate. Superdry paid a fortune to the top fashion store ebayer to get him to sort out their online presence on ebay. The modern way of retailing is fast, if it looks like you will have a lot of stock left in certain styles you may as well liquidate it NOW. Cash is king especially if its your cash in my pocket ! Superdry is also having a sale on ebay at moment , all the brands do (do a small search on ebay stores of your favoutite high street brands) I declare an interest as I have recently bought a significant number of FCCN shares | bigboyo
01/10/2013 11:21 | lol! sorry bamboo, that was beer talking | el chupacabra
01/10/2013 11:16 | Just got an e-mail from ebay advertising an "Up to 80% off sale" on FCCN. Link provided was No position here. Cheers, Martin | shanklin |
