16/3/2010 13:03 | Ita a problem if the co has put an order in and they haven't enough! You see they look to consistency of orders if they arent consistent it affects their margins. Put it this way when the daffs do come in bloom they will have too many at the wrong time and that will affect margins yet again because they will be reduced in price. | ls lowry
16/3/2010 10:13 | LS Lowry Are Daffs the only flower in the world Surely one would just choose another instead If i was in a pub and they didnt have my normal brand of beer i just get another Cant see this as a problem | pmeldrum
15/3/2010 09:06 | crookney, packed isn't the point - remember how well packed the Thorntons chocolates were? (you've gone quiet on that thread - as usual when you get it completely wrong) should i send a food parcel to your long suffering Coypu? | ydderf
15/3/2010 08:00 | Garden centres packed in my area. Having to park on side streets! | gswredland
14/3/2010 21:18 | Supermarkets short of Daffs throughout the country as they are a month behind. This will have hit sales. | ls lowry
14/3/2010 20:47 | Garden Centres absolutelty packed this weekend around here. CR | cockneyrebel
11/3/2010 11:50 | comedy club on this board i see. ceo owns a massive amount of stock now, his interests are heavily aligned with ours. flowers division is reorganised and ready to resume some growth again, nice bit of cash on the balance sheet, expensive debt gone, garden biz will hv a gd q2 now weather improved - no surprises about first 8 wks of the year given most of the uk was under 3 ft of snow...really don't know what the fuss is all about, typical AIM stock unfort so far today. | aim11
11/3/2010 11:42 | I haven't got any to sell Frauddy - as much as you want to keep making that case in order to try to deramp the stock and buy yourself. 12p is a minimum imo - and why would I listen to you? Do I need to remind you of your famous bet with me last year - CTT v DLAR ? Where the heck would I be listening to you? I'll tell you, I'd be skint, just like I would have been following you into SCS. Some of my buys might not come good in style, some might go a bit wrong but if I had the sort of bad calls you make where the stock gets wiped out I wouldn't be solvent now. So be off with you my ageing clown. CR | cockneyrebel
11/3/2010 11:35 | so that means you still have a few to sell crookers? what's the point of 12p of earnings if only the directors are on an earner? ....also the various genius directors have had twenty years to make a success of this business 'model', since it was first floated....what's going to chnage except more competition and globalls warming? take a look at CARE my friend that's a freebie from a friend! luv Trev | ydderf
11/3/2010 09:58 | interceptor2 I think the other significant point is the alleged planned discontinuation of the Greetings Direct business at some point in 2010. It made a significant profit in H1 2009 but was slightly loss-making in H2. AIUI, Greetings Direct has been quite a useful cash cow in recent times, and my understanding was that they would keep it running, in some way shape or form, until this ceased to be the case. I do wonder if their statement that they expect to close it sometime this year is as much to do with the historic balance sheet write-offs associated with Greetings Direct as with the reality of the situation. With this in mind, I expect it to continue to make a not-insignificant profit contribution this year and potentially into future years. Re the loans and looking at the last two year's interest payments, whilst interest paid out in 2010 will be non-zero, it should be a significant step down from last year | shanklin
11/3/2010 09:20 | Shanklin Thanks I have just read note 9 and stand corrected, I was rushing through other reports this morning and should have taken more time read to the bottom. Both loans due for repayment 15th June 2011, | interceptor2
11/3/2010 09:03 | the penny hasn't dropped yet for crookney, these small co's are not run for the shareholders benefit, they are run for the directors and managers - no divi says it all... a cynical directors purchase is probably the next move....if it goes low enough! | ydderf
11/3/2010 08:55 | No a better id is CrookyTurpin. LOL I did warn the weather would harm outlook and ramping Crooky wouldn't have it. No dividend is bad news. | ls lowry
11/3/2010 08:48 | poor old crookers, he has gone quiet on so many threads now, that he is in danger of having to reinvent himself to ramp again - how about 'crookeditupagain' as a new handle Crookney? | ydderf
11/3/2010 08:48 | interceptor2 I agree with most of your comments and will continue to hold. In terms of interest costs, which are falling rapidly as FBDU pays off the remains of two loans it took out in 2006, you need to look at Note 9 to the accounts. | shanklin
11/3/2010 08:39 | He has lost his touch and been rumbled. You forgot to mention he took a stop loss on Hornby and at least one stop loss on QED | ls lowry
11/3/2010 08:36 | you out yet crookers? what a pile of poo! add to the JSG,THT etc list methinks - have you lost your touch or have you been rumbled? | ydderf
11/3/2010 08:18 | Agree entirely with what you say interceptor. Will be holding and looking to add on price weakness | gswredland
11/3/2010 08:16 | Good solid results, and now management are in a position to continue the improvement of 2009. No debt so no finance charge next year of £239,000, and they say they will look at a dividend payment at the interims. Not an important factor to me, but institutions would be encouraged. Continued benefits from the cost reductions and efficiency programme to come through in 2010. With the Flying Flower divisions recovery gaining momentum, I think the growth will come from this division in 2010. As for the slow start this year for the Garden Division due to bad weather, it's hardly a surprise and they will catch up starting next week with warmer weather forecast. Gardeners will still plant the same amount, but just a little later. Happy to hold for future steady growth. | interceptor2 |
