23/3/2011 15:17 | Small consignment relief for VAT to be cancelled as a result of the budget. Not sure how much is sent from the CI these days BUT could be serious hit (imo) Views/comments ? | pugugly
10/3/2011 09:44 | another shocker. loss for the year, trading off to a mixed start. breach of banking covenants in q4. could easily go to 10p. divi is probably being used by ceo to suck cash out of the company, no way should fbdu have declared a final divi for 2010 given they're now in a net debt position | aim11
17/1/2011 11:21 | 5x p/e max shld be the rating now imho...5p eps? i think it'll go to 25p | aim11
14/1/2011 12:44 | Not sure about that but have reservations about the management's ability to deliver. WRT to flowers, clearly the snow just before Christmas must have come at just the wrong time for FBDU, so the costs of refunds and lower profitability is clearly a one off and would hopefully be back to normal this year. Don't think you can blame the company for that, especially as they say pre-exceptional they would have been ahead Of more concern is the gardening business, which also was below management expectations, which is not due to the weather but put down to the timing and range of products, both of which are fully in managements' control, that they got it wrong suggests they're not in tune with what people want. 14/1/2011 11:13 | Trading statement poor as expected. Lots of blame on the snow and weather - Incresed costs seen for next year. Of great worry to me is the decline in like ofr like sales "Like-for-like sales for the period were GBP5.0m, compared to GBP5.7m for last year". Getting close to bank covenant limits. Very much one for the back burner (imo) and watch list - anyone any other thoughts. [I held many years ago but sold in 2004 OK could have made more if sold late 06/7 but if held would now be on a 60%+ loss. Business model broken ? | pugugly
26/12/2010 09:07 | the ceo borrowed the money from the bank to buy his stake, the recent fall in the shares will mean that the bank may be asking him for a cash cure. Prob why he decided to pay a dividend | dnfa1975
26/12/2010 08:55 | I ordered some flowers for the wife - they arrived deep frozen! You can't blame FF when the temperature was -17C overnight, but it can't be doing their business any good at all. | topvest
25/12/2010 21:16 | they import flowers from africa i think, the snow will have hit the imports/flights at the busiest time, never mind the flowers rotting on doorstops | dnfa1975
19/12/2010 12:01 | 30p support on the chart (still holding a tiny amount from a decade ago but too small to be worried about now) | dnfa1975
18/12/2010 19:35 | more heavy snow - they'll warn again on the back of this, got to. very glad i'm out | aim11
18/12/2010 13:58 | DNFA1975---- I can answer your question. These comedians have just delivered me an orchid, sent as a sympathy gift by a dear friend following a family bereavement. It was left, thinly packaged, on the doorstep by someone who didn't ring the bell and, when found, was deep frozen. Quite possibly it was already frozen when left there. Now, thawed, it has turned limp and soggy on the kitchen table, only adding to sadness. I await a response from their customer service dept but, if this is anything like typical of what is happening, would venture that they are going to have a torrid (and unprofitable) Christmas. | vulgaris
04/12/2010 17:03 | what happened to those rotting flowers in the snow | dnfa1975

29/10/2010 09:06 | i'm amazed this stock is still at 52 after that rns. | aim11
28/10/2010 15:37 | awful update imho. ceo hasn't delivered. biz will struggle to generate more than 5-6p ongoing eps, 6x that would be 30-35p...i use 6x as altho debt is v low there is really no eps story here. glad to be out. | aim11
26/10/2010 19:09 | Looking less than great imo. They need to demonstrate they are batting this into shape now imo - there's always a fly in the ointment lately. The garden business that's their mainstay isn't doing as well as it should seeing we had a pretty decent summer. The acquisitions are looking a bit less than focussed too imo. Bird seed is doing well but then the guy in the next village to me sells bird seed on the web and his margins are huge - if FBDU are buying in greater bulk they should be able to make a killing. FBDU prices seem higher than his - that's good if they can maintain that but if little guys can under cut a bigger outfit like that then can they maintain the margins? I've been trimming as the chart looks poor - not overly impressed with the trading updates either and there's sweeter stuff to chase in this market imo. Disappointing. CR | cockneyrebel
26/10/2010 18:57 | Flying Flowers was a great business 15 years ago - I still have the little dinky toy FF van they mailed to holders in the early days on my study window sill. Trouble is they have lost their competitive advantage on pricing and the businesses (good that they are) appear to be on a relentless decline. Core revenues always seem to go down. Until that changes, I won't be back here as a holder. Still buy their plants and flowers though! | topvest
26/10/2010 13:51 | Was it ?? Have a chappatie and settle down. | hvs
