At least TCG get straight to the point.....(From 29/11/18 RNS)

SUMMARY OF 2018 PERFORMANCE

Overall, our financial performance in 2018 was disappointing, despite starting the year well and making good strategic progress. Group revenue was £9.6 billion, up 6% on a like-for-like basis, and group underlying EBIT was £250 million, down £58 million on a like-for-like basis.

Minerva seeing as you're so wise, would you have advised Tinkler to buy Flybe at 3p? What does he know that you don't?

coscos - the shares have not touched 1p because there are a lot of morons that participate in the financial markets. Investors here must be completely insensitive to the UK economy, and oblivious to the multitude of RNS that have stated stark trading in the 4th quarter of 2018. Or how about Ryanair talking about winter fairs lower by 7%?
Here is a general example from DODS.L. I have no idea what DODS does outside of this RNS, it is the first I have heard of them, but the message is consistent with all sectors plugged into the UK economy.

When the economy is combined with cyclical sector such as airlines, a sector that is known for regular sudden company failures, together with an airline that has never made a profit, and has been in turnaround for 5 years by far the simplest and most rational explanation of events is that FLYB is / was days from insolvency. Investors are lucky to come out with a penny. Those that have been able to sell at 3p, lucky you.

Whatsup, I'm essentially agreeing with you. I understand most of the approaches the board have had were to pre-pack the business. The Virgin consortium was the only approach which was prepared to make a takeover offer for the shares which avoided administration and involved taking on the pension fund and other existing commitments. There is ongoing interest from other parties in acquiring the operating business but not in making an offer on the same basis as the Virgin consortium. This is why I think we are witnessing a tussle for control of the process and not competing takeover bids. It is a dangerous situation for shareholders and selling in the market looks a relatively good bet compared to either 1p from the bid or zilch from an administration.

From FT Market's Live this morning (pretty much what I have been saying):

"Anyway, we don't do investment advice here for obvious reasons. But anyone silly enough to get involved in Flybe who now has the option of exiting at a premium to 1p offer needs to think long and hard about why they're not doing so."

Danny, I would hope you are right but the board had the company on the market for a while and have stated no other interested parties.

Whatsup, there are other parties interested in the operating business but they don't want to make a formal offer which would mean taking on the £18m+ pension fund liabilities. I think the board's determination to avoid the administration route is the underlying reason why we have ended up in the current mess. Buyers will be queuing up to buy Flybe out of administration because they can dump the pension fund on the PPF and disclaim any burdensome leases such as the Exeter HQ. Sadly shareholders don't get anything in this scenario.

If the sale to the consortium is blocked and/or consortium pulls out of bidding what do you think will happen.

There are no other interested parties , company will go into administration, everything of value would be sold (if it hasn’t already been) , the banks will need to be paid their £100m plus debt first , then trade , then HMRC , rents , wages to staff etc.etc. Anything left will go towards the administration costs.

Staff will lose their jobs and not a single penny would be left for shareholders who are all the way in the back of the line.

Because directors "had allowed a false market in the company's shares to develop by failing to update the City on its financial position in a timely fashion."

11:34 am

..... which I'm not sure is backed up by previous Flybe statements, or indeed a glance at the published results.

11:35 am
BE
Flybe said this change had been necessitated by its urgent need for liquidity - a claim challenged by Hosking Partners because of the company's cash balance and ability to raise funds from the sale of assets such as its take-off and landing slots at London Gatwick Airport.
