14/12/2002 22:03 | Hot air IMO - They daren't come out on a prolonged strike as the public has lost all respect for them already. That would just be the final nail for the FBU IMO. The governement could easily start getting tough with them by dropping their existing offer each week they are out on strike and imposing more and more conditions until they sack the lot of them. As a EMERGENCY service this shold have been done right from the start. The longer the stike lasts the more they should be coordinating with the reserve firefighters union. Most of the reserve boys are aching to do a proper job. How can anyone deny they should be trained in basic lifesaving procedures when they are 1st on the scene? The more you look at it the more you see how pathetic these council negociators are facing the union boys. | brainclamp | |
