03/4/2019 22:40 | Swiss Withholding Tax is 35%. | portugull
03/4/2019 21:07 | fxpo reaping profits from iron ore price inflation, no doubt will fund another extraordinary dividend, just for the swiss tax authorities to grab 40% of it, we should lobby to get this re domiciled to the UK, why is it in Switzerland anyway? | mark_jm
03/4/2019 16:52 | Break of 300p coming | its the oxman
03/4/2019 10:14 | Fmg Rio bhp....unstoppableIron ore price....fxpo following | foxy22
03/4/2019 09:15 | I see the climb back to (hopefully) £3 ps is linked very much to the increase in iron ore pricing.
And FY2018 results were originally meant to be delayed until 3rd April after the Blooming Land affair, but now delayed until 25th April to give more time to get to the bottom of financial discrepancies. Further delay, announced on the 1st April, doesn't seem to have had any impact on share price rise. I see that as a good sign.

03/4/2019 09:14 | All the cards seem to be stacked FXPO's favour at the moment.
Huge loss of production of iron ore from Vale,BHP and RIO combined with Chinese futures ripping higher are pushing iron ore towards the $100 mark.
£3 soon Bel? | grechen | |
01/4/2019 17:27 | Thank you SarahBudd and bellbottom for your replies.
My problem seems to be that ALL my dividends with Hargreaves Lansdown go to my ISA or my Sipp or my Sipp Drawdown.
HL did provide Tax Vouchers but I have to submit the claim and to do so need my Tax Office in UK to confirm I am a UK Resident which I am.(CoR)
As you say Sarah if I had the shares in a Fund & Share A/C and was therefore subject to UK Tax on all the income then I could make a claim otherwise not. | portugull
01/4/2019 16:46 | Hi Mark,
Two things - Hadn't realised the govt had cut the tax free allowance on dividends for 2018/19, to £2k - 2017/18 was £5k. Missed that one!
And of course it's your total dividends on all shares that is counted for tax purposes, unless protected in a stocks and shares ISA.
I previously looked into applying for rebate through Swiss Witholding Tax but all the forms put me off. As noted by myself and others, SIPP providers won't apply on your behalf. Sorry to hear you did all the form filling but didn't even get a response.

01/4/2019 16:26 | BELLBOTTOM, Does your explanation assume the individual concrened has no other no other UK dividends from other companies, or is the 5k a per share owned allowance.
I did loads of work one year and sent of the swiss forms, didnt even so much as get an acknowledgement never mind a cheque | mark_jm
01/4/2019 14:22 | Hi Sarah,
Re: SWT - Hargreaves Lansdown won't claim on your behalf - too much admin involved.

01/4/2019 13:56 | Did u see fmg....fxpo following back up in its path...... | foxy22
01/4/2019 13:25 | Yes agree, I think they're very much worth holding regardless ... but this is irrelevant for shares in ISAs and SIPPs which is unfortunate. Haven't heard of any providers prepared to reclaim tax for their clients from these accounts | sarahbudd
01/4/2019 11:16 | I have posted this a couple of times before, but shall post again.
From 6 April 2016 dividends up to £5,000 are not chargeable to UK tax so if your dividend is below that amount there will be no need to use the Swiss tax credit as there will be no UK charge against which to set it.
So let's say your dividend is 5p and then a special dividend payment of 5p, making a total of 10p per share annual dividend payment. You would therefore need to own more than 50,000 shares in FXPO to have an annual dividend payment of £5,000. Only at that point would you then need to pay the extra SWT above this amount.
So for those of us who are not lucky enough to have more than 50,000 FXPO shares we have very little to concern ourselves with in relation to SWT.
And if the shares are to soon rise above £3.00 ps, then a few quid in SWT for those having more than 50,000 shares would be small beer in relation to the gains in share price It's about balance.

01/4/2019 09:41 | Haha..automatically retyped/ spell checked to sipping!! Sipp obviously | sarahbudd
01/4/2019 09:40 | You need to contact your Sipping provider...neither my sipping nor ISA will claim the tax as they say too much paperwork, and all all pooled too difficult. You can claim if you hold in UK trading account through self assessment though... | sarahbudd
31/3/2019 11:58 | I hold 10,000 Shares in FXPO and want to reclaim a portion of the Swiss Withholding Tax which is 35%!!
I have discovered from the UK Government Website that under the double taxation agreement between UK and Switzerland that I must be liable to UK Tax on all the income for which I want to make a claim.
As the shares are in my SIPP Drawdown Account I am not liable for tax and therefore cannot claim from the Swiss Authorities.
Does anyone on this thread have experience of this complex issue? | portugull
29/3/2019 14:21 | yes foxy22.
The vote in parliament today is a big concern as weirdly a yes vote might help share prices in short term but I hope for a NO as a remainer ! ( smile ). So many dummies
with posh accents in the Tory party . | arja
