20/11/2009 18:01 | Well Big Fella, there is not much to say really. If you buy the FI exploration stocks, if they hit fantastic, if not you lose 100% of your money. FKL own a couple of steady buisness in the UK & pay a 8p div, not that exciting but they also have permission to build 300 houses + land in the Falklands, + a few small buisnesses, some people think the Falklands could be the new North Sea/Saudi Arabia,60 Billion barrels. DES/FOGL have already said if they hit big they will be selling up to a major, FKL will be the only quaoted company opperating on this oil rich island. If in a couple of years we have had drilling in the North and South basin & its come to nothing, at todays price the downside is not much at all, but the upside......on a risk reward basis | ![]() mr hangman
20/11/2009 16:41 | Just having a look at this one and on the fence. Apart from having 15 mil FOGL the three businesses they have don't seem to have any synergies, and are in unrelated business sectors. Why not just invest in FOGL. Sensible, reasoned arguements only please. Iwill take a bit of time out over the weekend to read up a bit more. Hangers - I know you are keen. Here is your chance to sell it to me! | ![]() the big fella

04/11/2009 22:57 | Unique Heritage Properties now available in Stanley , Falkland Islands priced from £105,000 As someone who has an interest in Falkland Islands Holdings I am writing to you today to make you aware of a unique opportunity to acquire a residential hideaway in the Falkland Islands. Our company has recently finished the refurbishment of an historic collection of sea front cottages in Stanley and these are now being marketed for sale both to local people and friends of the Falklands in the UK. Set in the heart of Stanley with a superb location on the harbour waterfront next to Victory Green, the 10 unique terraced cottages and apartments once formed part of the world famous Upland Goose Hotel. Now reverting to its original name, Marmont Row was built in Victorian times as a sea-front terrace of whitewashed cottages. After spending many years first as a tavern and latterly as a hotel, the building has now been returned to its original form to provide an attractive selection of residential homes for the discerning owner who wishes to enjoy the peace and unhurried charm of life in the Falkland Islands . Stanley benefits from a twice weekly direct air link from the UK and regular weekly flights from Chile linking into scheduled routes through South America. At 51 degrees South, Stanley is at an equivalent latitude to London, in the southern hemisphere and enjoys a similar climate to the West of Scotland though with much lower rainfall and on average, the Islands enjoy more hours of sunshine than the South of England. Summer runs from late November to March and the Falklands has a thoroughly British culture with local people expressing an intense loyalty to the British Crown. The Islands are a dependent territory of the United Kingdom but have their own taxation system and a locally elected Legislative Council which runs day to day affairs watched over by a UK appointed Governor. For more information on life in the Falkland Islands please visit the Falkland Islands Government web site at You should be aware that the purchase of any property by a person who is currently not resident in the Falkland Islands requires the approval of the Falkland Islands Government . Applications will be more favourably viewed from those who have established links with the Islands, those intending to make Stanley their home for at least part of the year and from those able to make a contribution to the life and future development of the Islands . A short description of the properties at Marmont Row is attached to this email. If you are interested in finding out more about the opportunity to purchase one of these unique homes please contact our UK office in Bishop's Stortford on 01279 461630 or email admin@fihplc.com Very best wishes Yours sincerely John Foster Managing Director Falkland Islands Holdings plc . | ![]() eburne1960
19/10/2009 11:00 | Works out £1.87 of this is FOGL (at current FOGL price) if you discard the other investments, so you are paying 1.23 per share for their other investments. Very tempted to sell FOGL if it rises a bit further and put all the money into this. | alice100
11/10/2009 21:41 | Haven't dipped my toes yet. Still watching, but I do quite fancy having some of these long-term with all the activity in the FI thanks to DES etc. | alice100
