16/3/2007 14:36 | Am I right to assume banks etc can offset losses against gains for tax purposes just like ordinary Joe Punter? sell now and buy back at the start of the new tax year? Unless there is any firm price offer/deal this will keep drifting down as despite the buys at 17.4p there seems a vast surplus of stock for the MM's to dump. | pugg1ey
13/3/2007 17:01 | The downside, with or without a takeover, seems to have very limited downside at current levels imo. Without a takeover, the company would be forced to fold up by the shareholders, who would receive, after break up costs, something like 20-22p per share imo. With a takeover, a fair bit more. The price action is currently because the company is too small too attract the larger funds now, and KBC are obviously reducing their books generally, as opposed to anything being EVC specific. The vast majority of other shareholders are just waiting for further developments, which are unlikely to be disappointing given the new broker, and the fact that the directors really cannot let down shareholders yet again. imo. | frank spencer
13/3/2007 15:36 | agreed fs. just looking for a opportune moment to buy some more :-) | pugg1ey
13/3/2007 15:00 | It doesn't really matter why imo. The active hedge funds are still holders and will ensure that shareholders eke the maximum possible imo. | frank spencer
13/3/2007 10:42 | 18.4p to buy 50K (sorry to keep wittering on). still inst. selling? people trying to offload for tax year? | pugg1ey
13/3/2007 08:54 | timing is everything here (as always!) share price very weak at the moment, will probably keep drifting once more if there is no news. | pugg1ey
13/3/2007 08:51 | 18.8p to buy now, offer should drop? perhaps to make buys look like sells? | pugg1ey
12/3/2007 14:54 | actually 19.4p to buy (not 20p) don't know why offer hasn't dropped? | pugg1ey
12/3/2007 09:03 | Company is too small to be on the radar of the big funds that often play in takeover stocks. MMs are long from the selling we saw a few weeks ago, so they are happy to flatten out at current levels. The shareholders won't accept any bid below net cash, so still maintain we'll see something near the 30p level as a minimum. | frank spencer
11/3/2007 18:58 | Early stages in the takeover bid and the price goes up 9% - under what condition is EVC recommended as a sell by some brokers? The speculation alone will drive the share price 25 within the next fortnight. | sruk77
10/3/2007 11:17 | EVC recieved several proposals and also a return of cash to shareholders; Now the fun begins, and a nice hefty profit for those of us that hold at these levels. I have not come across a company in this position before. I really hate companies that have no idea what strategic direction they are moving in (my biggest gripe about UNG). This is not the sort of recovery play I go for. But I will watch with interest from the side lines to see what happens. I am particularly intrigued to see what value the work on tick saliva yields. rEV576 has passed stage one and two - unlike rEV131 which failed stage one and was shelved. Good will hunting to those who hold it as I make my decision to buy on Monday. | sruk77
09/3/2007 14:57 | yes it is, even if it is evc. | jonfa
09/3/2007 14:56 | This is EVC!! | dubbsie
09/3/2007 14:23 | Is this the same EVC that Jeremy Batstone was ramping on TV at 180p ? Sorry for that slip - corrected now. | initiate
09/3/2007 13:04 | I think someone is using this as an opportunity to offload a load of shares. You can buy online (with Abbey) 45K but only sell 5K. Either that or an MM has a large surplus. | pugg1ey
09/3/2007 12:26 | I SOLD YESTERDAY,D'OH! | louie76
09/3/2007 11:35 | the initial reaction of the market is one of the best indicators as to how they view the news. And as Perl has indicated, it is not impressed. Directors are in self preservation mode. Which isnt the same as preserving value for shareholders. Very arrogant considering they are the ones who have destroyed shareholder value in the first place. | agrazer
09/3/2007 11:33 | We'll see. In general you are right, but in a competitive situation where a number of companies are interested in acquiring another company, the mms bid up if they expect the first bid to be trumped. Its too early to predict here, but as I posted a while back, I am expecting anything from 25p-35p. | frank spencer
09/3/2007 11:15 | Personally i still think a mid size biotech/pharma (whatever they're called these days) will buy these with the reasons FS has given. Its just if there is only one buyer the price will be at best around 25p. However if there are more than one party interested this could go a lot higher. | pugg1ey |
