13/12/2006 14:34 | i agree, is it just me or is the massive price drop a massive over reaction. surely sitting on these shares and buying more could only be a good move. any opinions? | rodneyrouchy

12/12/2006 19:50 | great chance for a mid size pharma to offer 40p a share buyout (£8million). not sure how many the company employ but I would guess restructuring wouldn't cost too much. The cash in the bank would virtually cover this and the cost of the shares, and, you have some useful IP to boot with potential for money making drugs. I remeber Celltech doing exactly the same thing with OGS (had a load of cash in the bank) a few years back for a premium (not 100% but the amounts involved were much larger as OGS was a much bigger company). | pugg1ey
12/12/2006 18:34 | It looks like Master RSI has called this wrong again. | loverat
12/12/2006 17:08 | Must be a T/O target at this level. Give the predators time ;-) | c0nn0r
12/12/2006 16:50 | rw, EVC is up against the wall and it cant do much. Its directors must be praying to the gods that the next trial outcome goes their way. The bit about being a takeover target has some credence, but big pharmas only get to be big by being ruthless and you can bet they will wait like vultures until EVC is at death's door and then offer a token amount. i would be for the suggestion offered by one poster on here, just shut up shop, distribute the cash to shareholders and sell off the research and share that cash with shareholders. Remember if the next trial results are positive, they will need millions more to take that drug delopment further, at current prices (if not lower) that would result in hefty dilution. | yes prime minister
12/12/2006 16:35 | In a past life, I worked for one of the big pharma corps (indeed one of the largest companies in the world). One of my jobs was to assess potential mergers/takeovers/pa To a medium pharma looking for new products (they all are), EVC would look a very tempting morsal. The management must be worried about their personal future...and would probably bite the arm off a medium company who came knocking. | randomwalker
12/12/2006 16:07 | the problem here is that you cant use the cash (£8m according to broker) to value the share. As that cash in the bank isnt doing nothing. Its been burnt away pretty fast. Cash valuation can only be used if its sitting in the bank and not being depletd. By February i would guess that £8m would have dwindled to £5m. If the next trial results are not good, then I feel its all over for EVC. Not to forget there is a massive overhang of stock in the market. So for time being the share is going nowhere, if anything it will fall further. Its an out and out speculation. Just too much risk. You could lose the lot, better punts elsewhere. the company has had its reputation shattered, to an extent that it could be the end of the company pretty soon. | yes prime minister
12/12/2006 16:02 | so they've dumped around 10%. | yes prime minister
12/12/2006 11:48 | Master RSI Whilst you may well spend time doing your research, this clearly does not preclude you from "opening your mouth". My research would indicate that at time of interims cash held was £10.5M not the £14 you quote - this is the current asset figure. Yes, to that you can add the cash raised but, of course 6 months have elapsed since then and cash burn would have taken its toll. All I am saying is that it would be hard to convincingly demonstrate that currentlythis company is sitting on £17m cash - unless you were looking to draw in the naive. | rkjones

12/12/2006 03:21 | barclays stockbrokers are the worst stockbroker I've ever used. Absolutely hopeless in all aspects, Closed my account with them 5 years ago. Unless they've changed, I'd avoid them at all costs. Would like to see director buying here to convince me to buy. If they instead just rebase and award themselves more options, that will not be a good sign imo. | frank spencer
