you have to wonder whether that journalist who wrote that small piece in the indy did his homework (i think original poster hinted he wasnt to be trusted). if he just looked at the last balance sheet he would've known EVC has creditors.

Trade and other payables 6 2,731

so if you take away those payables, the cash balance is reduced to £6m. Which equates to around 24p / share.

but presume they've still got the same staff at the same premises ...?
and I presume the management & board will still be on full salaries despite not having too much in the pipeline ?

but the latest cash estimate (as reported by the Independent, 8th Jan)said they'd £8.7m left... the last interims gave the figure as over £13m (end June). at this cash burn rate then how much longer is the share price going to be below the cash value?

They have much more cash than the value of SP! Not sure if they have anything in the pipeline but the cash alone could be worth a punt.

ducktails

I can see you know nothing about the history of this company, recent trades or the reasons behind the turnover.

Good luck in your future investments.

Morgan Stanley bought about 4mln at 20p after the first bad announcement late last year and couldn't place many of them. The market at the time was 25-30p. They never intended to keep them for long, and it was a punt that went wrong, so they placed them into this recent rally.

Lehman have cut a position they've had for some time, and have a history of cutting bad positions near the bottom, imo.

People that are long of these shares at above £1 will see the situation completely differently to those that are long under 20p. They shouldn't, but its a fact of life imo.

Evolutec Group plc (the "Company")

Holding in Company

The Company received notification from Bluehone Investors LLP on 8 January 2007
that, following a purchase of 100,000 ordinary shares of 10 pence each
("Ordinary Shares"), its client Active Capital Trust plc is interested in
1,348,571 Ordinary Shares, representing 5.20% of the Company's issued share
capital of 25,949,996 Ordinary Shares. The shares are registered in the name of
Chase Nominees Limited.

These chaps will be proactive in seeking value for shareholders imo, and given that the company have effectively put themselves up for sale, I suspect we maybe closer to a swift conclusion than is the norm. Those that are unfortunately in at above £1 will likely not see their money back, but I suspect recent buyers are targetting a 30p-50p take out price.

The way this is being bought and the cash position versus the market cap one could be forgiven for thinking that an offer situation was brewing.

I am more of an investor than a trader, but I do reckon my buy last week below 15p was pretty good (OK, you may say lucky on the timing.....but I did work out why I was buying before I did so). I think we will see 30p.....and in the not too distant future. That'll do me ;-)
