THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF 5G



This infographic published last year includes a roadmap showing estimated timescales for the trial and adoption of 5G use cases. As it shows, all use cases are still very much in the initial use/trial stage. Consumer 5G (mobile devices/smartphones) isn't expected to push into common use until 2022 and even that will not be global.

Trials of the more transformative use cases are only just beginning. Many of these advanced use cases - factory automation, autonomous driving, smart grid - require ultra reliable low latency comms (URLLC) - a capability enabled by ENET's ACE-NIC100.

There is still an immensely large market in play for many years to come.

More than 792,000 5G subscribers added last month in Korea: Report

South Korea ended February with 13.66 million subscribers in the 5G segment after a net addition of 792,118 subscribers during the month, local news agency Yonhap reported, citing data from the Ministry of Science and ICT.

In July of 2020 , Korean mobile operators SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus agreed to invest a total of KRW 25.7 trillion ($22 billion) through 2022 to boost 5G infrastructure across the country.

Despite the rapid progress in 5G deployments, subscribers have been criticizing the poor quality of 5G services. Nearly 1,000 5G smartphone users in South Korea have recently expressed interest in taking legal action against the country’s three major telecom operators due to the alleged poor quality of the service.

Forget the silly talk of 'people in suits' walking into an office .. Ethernity are in a shared office complex and it could have been someone meeting another tenant. I want something tangible not gossip, I've waited a long time here but something needs to happen in 2021.

DU server news, talk of foreigners ( perhaps americans ) spotted walking into Ethernity offices, seemed to spark that.

If news does arrive it couldnt be at a more apposite time.

I note David F Allen aka 'Dallo' from the L S E board has now gone over 4% owned, with a nice round 2m holding.Certainly a vote of confidence from the largest non fund holder, excluding the bod.

Google's patent system provides the same data, and more, in an easier to read format.


Interestingly the status is still marked pending which suggests the approval has indeed just been granted. Also interesting to note the patent cites 13 patent documents and is cited by 4 documents. Obviously many are working on similar/related ideas.

Two points of interest for me are that ENET's solution is a multi- hub and spoke design (as opposed to point-to-point transmission solutions) which immediately minimises points of failure. And unlike proprietary designs ENET's innovation offers interoperability - very likely a huge winner in a disaggregated world.

Ethernity CEO David Levi said, "We are thrilled that this technology has been granted the protection of a patent, validating our unique developments. The applications relating to this patent are now the subject of business discussions with prospective customers."

SILC and NAPA have been talked about many times on LSE. I thought it might be useful to plot their relative share price performance together with ENET. Both are practically flat when measured from ENET's AIM listing date whilst ENET is sitting 80% down.

Interestingly all three plot a roughly similar trend, particularly ENET and NAPA, right until June 2020 when SILC (blue line) and NAPA (orange) stayed on the path to recovery but ENET stumbled. It's clear to see the strength of recovery in the wings for ENET as commercial newsflow picks up.
