Vatnabrekk. Yes, real progress can be seen at North Fork for the first time.
Cost of plant approx $15 million. 2MW.

With forestry wood waste an increasing problem in the state of California, this plant will improve both the environmental and economic outcomes in the local area, annually converting 17,550 metric tonnes of the biomass into clean electric and thermal energy and into 1,600 metric tonnes of biochar per year, for use as a soil substrate in reforestation and agricultural plantations substrate.

EQT is like a snowball at the top of a steep slope. It's just starting to roll and no one can judge the speed or the size of it when it reaches the valley below ....

Next Meeting of the North Fork Community is today with progress report on construction of their EQT plant.

First photos of EQT Gasifier being installed at North Fork
North Fork Community Development Council posted some photos yesterday showing the progress of the project....

The steelwork is up, and the gasifier and associated syngas treatment equipment looks like it's installed.
I like the green paint for all the gassifier kit. No other colour would do!



It's come a long way this year since construction began.

An interesting read across from BIFFAs announcement today that it has bought the Industrial & Commercial waste collections and recycling operations of Viridor. It specifically picks out and repeats the value of being able to secure an additional 22,000t per annum of plastic feedstock for its Polymer division, BIFFA has two closed-loop recycling plants for rHDPE (milk bottles) and PET (clear drinks bottles) which resupply the original producers.

The rest of what BIFFA describes as EfW are the filthy businesses of incinerating mixed waste and capturing methane from landfill, cheap but productive ways of deriving energy. Under the noses of the green lobby and government despite being inefficient and with much worse emissions than EQTs gasification.

A very important shift is taking place where waste is increasingly becoming a resource, companies with scaled up ambitions for deriving energy or fuel from (plastic) waste need to secure the long-term supply of feedstock.
