"Sithuk - FWIW the 43-101 has opex at $1.13/lb and refining costs at $0.43/lb. These costs are early '13, but they shouldn'd be too far off."If we go to 9mtpa we should see, all being well, between 30,000-35,000 tonnes of refined payable Cu, that's circa 66M -77M lbs of Cu, call it $1 a lb profit, it's not hard to see why Traf want in.

Guys. The NI-43-101 report produced Feb 2013, mentioned that EMED would start producing at 5Mt/yr and would increase production to 9Mt/yr by year 3. For them (AL), to announce recently that they will do this in year 1, will be truly awesome! We are just biding our time until the end of the month.Gla!

A little mention in the local press:

The mining sector currently provides in the province 5,500 direct and indirect jobs, as highlighted by the president of the council of Huelva, Ignacio Caraballo, who announced that the figure could increase significantly soon form.

...

Caraballo 2015 expected to start operating the site of Rio Tinto mines after obtaining rights EMED company, which currently holds the preparations for the facility to operate.

Can someone point me towards the latest cost of production estimate? ($/lb)

[edit: a footnote on page 24 of the 16 Oct 2014 presentation on the investor relations webpage has the "managment current estimate for C1 cash costs" as $1.61/lb at a USD/EUR exchange rate of 1.30.

]

[edit2: from the numbers in the presentation it looks to me like the C1 cash costs are approx €1.24/lb. The latest USD/EUR exchange rate is 1.20. That would equate to a current C1 cash cost estimate of $1.5/lb. Is anyone using similar estimates?]

Good afternoon,

I thought when HAA set up this scientific laboratory on EMED's territory the idea was that it would bring in funds from the whole area as other mining establishments would pay to use its facilities.

Therefore having a large staff was fine if they are doing work for EMED and the other mining houses in this part of Spain.

Not sure I ever said EMED were a "spent force" without Trafigura . . . I think they were in financial difficulties without a "bridging" loan from Trafigura and XGC and Orion . . . and contrary to what some people kept saying finance was an issue IMHO, especially without the permits . . .

"......There are thus still clear and significant hurdles to clear for the company to at last get the Rio Tinto project into production again, but these are positive developments – helping the shares up from 4.625p to a current 5.5p-6.25p. We continue to consider that the potential on offer in relation to the current valuation remains attractive, though equally that clear uncertainties remain and apologise for the act that the shares are below the 8p orginal tip price from ourselves. However, these latest developments are positive.

Failed, overpaid management have been cleared out. It seems there will be no more drip drip placings to keep the lights on. Trafigura has done all shareholders a great service in ringing the changes because – unlike the old board – it had serious skin in the game. Average down. Speculative buy."

PlasI can only surmise but IMO the majority are trainees so it would take time to be up and running. The other thing with them being trainees is I suggest that it is all linked with the school of mining excellence EMED promised along with of course a €8m grant

Thanks wanderer1210_0: It is certainly something I want to ask the Co. about.
If we were up & running it would make more sense to me but why have they so over staffed it with still 6 months to run?
Can you explain in simple terms for me as a layman, and apart from the environmental aspects, what the potential upside benefits could be at this stage?

I am still of the belief that Traf will make a T/O offer !

I have had this thought since they become a shareholder, and there is no information currently in the public domain that makes me doubt my assumption.

Wanderer,

Individually, maybe, but collectively Orion and XGC can hold their own. They too will, I am sure, be wary of TRAF's presence.

wanderer1210_0: it says "providing 300 samples per day (600 determinations that analyze 30 parameters each) what ever that means!
It goes on: - "to achieve this there is already a team of 27 people including me, a manager, two shift supervisors & 23 laboratory assistants and sample preparation operators"

Thanks C&P. Volcanic plateau on Mars. I wonder who came up with that.
I assume there is no news in the local press about the forthcoming Junta fanfare event linked to the announcement of the two permits (R.P & M.L.)?
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
