PlasThe lab techs won't just be dealing with drill cores, they will also be sampling effluent samples for discharge or storage etc. To me 27 is way over the top, if you look at a oil exploration rig, they have 2 chemist and 1 geologist and little old me a RPS who takes water and solid sample looking for radioactive isotopes. I would suggest the numbers involved may correlate to the grant on offer from the Junta

The last El Boletin talked a lot about the repaired & re-equiped Laboratory functions (chemical analysis), headed by Jose Ramon Garcia. "Now operational & meeting international standards".

This is not something I am that familiar with, but can anyone in the know, shred a bit more light on this for me please?
It tells us half a million euros have already been invested. It seems amazing, but apparently there are 27 people employed in the Unit - "develops 24hrs a day, 7 days a week providing 300 samples per day". That seems like serious business.

Does this tell us?
a) they have done/are doing extensive test drilling - more than we realise?
b) they must already have extensive results giving them a good understanding of the detailed metal content of the ore (grade and locations).
c) they are well on the way to updating the Resource/Reserve & updating the profitability projections.

As we know mining today is a very scientific operation; considerably different to 20 years ago when the Rio Tinto mine was last in operation no doubt.

This Laboratory Unit, although appearing very large, is no doubt money well spent, as the Boletin suggests it will enable them to maximimise efficiency, reduce operating costs, reduce wastage, & optimise the production of copper concentrate.
There are also important Environmental controls.

Is this all very significant? Half million & 27 people sounds serious to me.

Wanderer,

TRAF was only a part provider of the bridging loan (see the RNS). The money would have been found even had they not been involved.

No, I do not think they would have made an offer. IMHO, they may have under-estimated the degree of commital that Orion and XGC hold for involvement in PRT. They knew they could not win a T.O bid for XGC and Urion between them hold too large a stake. I think the current share price has little to do with it.

Also, I think the money would have been there even if TRAF had not become involved. The company had already indicated as much. TRAF managed to find a way in, but they will, imo, be forced to accept what their shareholding entitles them too. However, there is certainly a good possibility that they will end up managing the mine, even if they do not control it. This makes sense imo and might prove to be in everybody's interest.

Can anyone remind me, has IQ left the company or is he still hanging around.

With the delay in permits and subsequent project finance drawdown if there was no “bridging̶1; loan then EMED would likely be insolvent and in administration IMHO . . . if the work on site has been ramped up dramatically as we are lead to believe then the cash would have been rapidly running out into December . . . and the RNS stated “The initial instalment of the Loan of US$24 million is expected to be drawn down before the end of December 2014” . . . evidence that EMED were over a barrel IMHO . . .

paulie,

It seems I misinterpreted your post. I have been here 5/6 years too, so I think I know how you feel. My apologies. I just get fed up with the sniping and backbiting. Everyone is entitled to voice an opinion, even though, in the end, nearly all will be proven wrong.

Lango,

'Trafigura will soon have the control they want. I would prefer a clean takeover at somewhere close to 20p, but that does not seem to be on their agenda.'

Unless you are involved directly, how on earth do you know what TRAF want or wanted? In that respect, as far as I as an onlooker am concerned, you fall into the same caregory as BW. Both of you make statements that appear to be facts, not conjecture.

Bw's greatest excitement was when Emed exploited unemployed miners by encouraging them to 'march' on Sevilla in a futile gesture that marked the company's nadir with the Junta. Documentation for AS/AAU was in first stages and there was nothing the Junta could have done. From then on Emed's card was marked and it was the beginning of the end for the 'ancien regime'. It was an Emed own goal that dwarfed all the exaggerated dirty tricks in terms of causing delay to the project and leading to today's pathetic share price

Paulie,

Yes, it could, but if you believe it will be, why are you still here? Do you imagine we are stuck in some sort of groundhog day.

The mine was not producing copper. It is finally, imo, a near certainty that the mine is going to produce copper in the near future. Nothing in this life is 100% certain in my experience. How the spoils will be divided is the real question.

For goodness sake children, the past is the past. It is just history. The future is the only thing that counts now, for the times they are a changing.

Even SR might yet be proven to be right, just a little late. In that, he has plenty of company. Any plan that might have been made had to be modified when TRAF entered the arena. I think it will be revealed that they have failed in, what I believed was, their initial aim (control/TO), so BW could also be considered correct if such proves to be the case.

Every post of opinion is good in my book, unless it is devoted to rudeness or vindictiveness. We are but footsoldiers and have to make our own beds.

yes those who stuck your heads out and said Trafigura would win (of sorts) were correct , but you did not know what was really going on at ground level. Pointless BW waisting time / energy blaming who did what , why do long.

let's stay positive that new grouping work well together .

I think the board here should also drop the frustrations.

2 weeks chaps ;-)

I don't see BW posts in the same light . He was often responding to direct criticism . he knew what was going on at the ground . All said recognises that things have changed. However, he never said the Trafigura / Emed relationship was not impossible (Matsa angle) . Pointless BW going over "history" (as you say) . Trafigura are in , their route has not been direct or as fast as they would have wanted , but alas they are now properly at the table rather than behind scene . BW contact at the ground level / company is close. The old guard have made sacrifices to move things forward , as has Trafigura accepted the new ensemble .

You are rewriting history now IMHO . . . some of us said Trafigura would be involved here at some point in the future in 2013 . . . bookworm1 berated us and has accused us of being paid by Trafigura . . . for months he criticised Trafigura and said the other shareholders would protect us . . . in fact they sold their shares to Trafigura and the remainder are now in cahoots with Trafigura . . . bookworm1 said finance wasn't a problem and yet here we are over a barrel because the supposedly supportive Junta delayed permitting again . . . bookworm1 has patronised and bored us for months with irrelevant historic guff and here you are telling us to forget the past on his behalf . . . bookworm1 has been wrong about the outcome here and has been a danger to other investors with his constant ramping and misinformation and lies IMHO . . .

I'm not sure what you are saying but I have been selling down and trading a few blocks for a few weeks now . . . if the financing doesn't prove my fears correct I may be a buyer again . . . however, I think there will be better opportunities elsewhere after all the dilution and uncertainty here . . .
