13/6/2022 15:42 | The shares are being dumped bigtime. Jasonpugh has probably expired due to all the mustard sandwiches that he's agreed to eat, despite his allergy. He will be missed. Meanwhile, recession is rushing towards us, consumers are tightening belts and easyjet's future profits are smaller and being pushed further into the future. Current market cap is £3.2m. If the business makes half what it made in 2019, a record year for flying, then that will be about £180m. On a forward p/e of say 12 (given the demonstrably high risk nature of easyjet's business) I reckon a market cap of £2.2bn might be fair (shareprice of £2.80). That's assuming there isn't a complete collapse in consumer sentiment, because if that happens, all bets are off and the share price drop could well overshoot below £2. The next big move will most likely follow the release of EZJ's Q3 numbers. There'll probably be some good news in there on load factors, but the cost of compensation will be significant and the reputational damage will reduce future bookings. Because if you've got kids, why would you book flights for a family of four never knowing for sure whether they'll go ahead? How can you pay the deposit on the hotels? Why risk it? Staycations can be planned with greater certainty. Also the cost of a foreign holiday will be too much for many. Q4 will show the level of damage to consumer confidence with regard to easyjet's bookings. The EZJ share price has a lot further to fall imo. | ![]() danvandan

09/6/2022 13:13 | Certainly tough times. I have a hotel near Athens and we are booked solid through end September. All foreigners but very few Brits and all traveling budget airlines, it's how it is now. easyJet could never please the market but they have overstepped their own resilience in the UK. Generally from our main markets Germany, France, Denmark and Sweden we have seen very little disruption. Brexit is a huge issue for the UK and a small issue for Europe which has largely excluded British trade already. Personally I will buy nothing now from the UK after a 4 week customs wait and €400 extra charges. I was positive on easyJet I am now neutral and sit out. I would like to see them reduce UK exposure and build more intra europe business. | ![]() 504

08/6/2022 12:19 | I travelled this week on easy and here's the thing - their planes are packed out. The airports are packed out overflowing. It's not just lack of staff at airports it's huge huge demand to travel despite the cost of living rise. People want to holiday end of and have cash to spend. Yes the experience was horrible but are you going to stop using them long term, I say no. People moan but then next month or year they rebook as other airlines are more expensive. The Media has sensationalised this story again and yes airports are in chaos but let's not forget the underlying cause is also massive demand and that can only be a good thing for the business. Also people seem willing to pay higher prices so they should be able to raise prices without crushing demand. | ![]() davidro77

08/6/2022 11:05 | We got a text at midnight saying our frights were cancelled for that morning and Easyjet had no other flights out of Lisbon for at least 3 days. Cost use £800 to go with Luxair. It's a disgrace! How can a company keep taking money when it knows it can't provide a service? It should be downsizing and only offering slots it knows it can deliver on. Management should be sacked for trashing the brand. Its going to cost them dearly in cash and reputation | ![]() smithless
07/6/2022 13:05 | When you dump staff even though they were on a low wage what did they expect, Did they think people would have been waiting for airlines industry to recruit at same old rates and hours. THEY WENT AND FOUND BETTER PAID JOBS WITH BETTER CONDITIONS. Look at P and O dumped staff because it was cheaper to have nice slave labour Opps sorry cheap labour instead with predictable results. The same happend in late 90,s with high caliber I.T staff remember goverment I.T projects failed one after another through cheap unqualified staff (hmrc, nhs, etc). | sirshagalot
07/6/2022 12:14 | If any of you run a business you will understand just how difficult it is to find and employ staff at present. They just are not there to be recruited. Even then they still need to be trained. Bearing this in mind, I don't think that it would be the airlines fault as they would be totally silly to sell seats and flights which they cannot service. The problem seems to be the airport staff, baggage handlers and many of the essential not so highly skilled staff which were just laid off or made redundant during the two year closedown. The airports could not cope with the increased level of operation. At present I certainly would not even dream of going abroad and especially by plane during a bank holiday week without expecting major delay problems. The signs were all there well before the bank holiday with what you could expert to happen. If you listen to the interviews there is too much of the "I want I want I want" brigade....me me me! I rest my case. | ![]() sardine2 |
