The only reason to invest in this stock now, is the slim chance of a complete government bailout coming to the rescue.

Otherwise - get out!

TUI is the weakest airline in the UK and in the most trouble. It's share price is down 34% this morning already.

It seems to me a good idea for Easyjet to step in to take over their business like they did Thomas Cook.

easyJet say European aviation "depends significantly" on government backing to survive COVID-19.

Johan Lundgren, easyJet CEO, said: “At easyJet we are doing everything in our power to rise to the challenges of the coronavirus so that we can continue to provide the benefits that aviation brings to people, the economy and business.

“We continue to operate rescue and repatriation flights to get people home where we can, so they can be with family and friends in these difficult times.

“European aviation faces a precarious future and it is clear that coordinated government backing will be required to ensure the industry survives and is able to continue to operate when the crisis is over.”

The company’s statement added: “There is no guarantee that the European airlines, along with all the benefits it brings for people, the economy and business, will survive what could be a long-term travel freeze and the risks of a slow recovery.

“Whether it does or not will depend significantly on European airlines maintaining access to liquidity, including that enabled by governments across Europe.

EasyJet says it has carried out "further significant cancellations" as governments impose more travel restrictions and following "significantly reduced levels of customer demand".

"These actions will continue on a rolling basis for the foreseeable future and could result in the grounding of the majority of the EasyJet fleet."

The airline said it would continue to operate rescue flights for short periods where it could, in order to repatriate customers.

The carrier said it was taking "every action to remove cost and non-critical expenditure from the business at every level".

EasyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren said: "European aviation faces a precarious future and it is clear that coordinated government backing will be required to ensure the industry survives and is able to continue to operate when the crisis is over."

Have you not seen what is going on, the U.K. economy is dead, it’s time to reset.
They haven’t the fire power to save it. In respect of the latest stimulus packages they were better wheelbarrowing it in to the drains outside Westminster.
We are entering years of depression, who do you think will pay for all of the money wasted. You probably think a fine balancing act but it isn’t. Mass insolvencies, mass unemployment, shortage of food. For fks sake start to realise.

Of course they are going to bail out the airlines. It would be a disaster fir the UK economy to let them go under. It may not come to that as EZJ have a big cash buffer. Instead of all the hysteria here why not calculate EZJ cash burn without any flights assuming they still pay core overheads.

Amt, are you for real, are they now going to bailout every industry, for fks sake they can’t it isn’t right or practical. As shareholders you’ve lost, time to realise and get on with it. I bet you were one of those slagging off the government for bailing out the banks. For fks sake. Accept it just as Flybe owners did.
They need to fail, and the government pick up the pieces afterwards. Jeremy Corbyn wanted to nationalise most industries, looks like the conservatives get to do it in their place.
They must not bankrupt the country.

Governments around the World are not going to let good businesses such as EZJ get into financial difficulties. Anyway this emergency will probably calm down in a few months.
