Ex dividend tomorrow but shorts all about the market cap and Malcy, Oak Bloke and the board all seem blissfully unaware about the tricks to lower the market cap below the FTSE 250 threshold.

A lot of stuff out there but the only evolution you need follow is any occurring within market maker environments..

That evolves far slower than most probably think. The human side of it anyway

Very difficult to make in arbitrage these days really. At least for retail. Maybe some do but be very few specialising well at it

I think tbe most typical form now is in the likes of cash raises re discount to share price with forward selling done pre the announcement 😂

Anyway, this drop is not great pre XD

Not so much that its not normal. Be traders bailing out of the little run to it

But its where price will be due to open on XD that's a big issue

I think the simplest way to put it is this way

A short is only a bet on market movement. It does not move an share price when actioned re it has no market making power (bar possible sentiment ) . It is not a share transaction re change of ownership.

What difference? A difference is only possible if created with the price paid to price quoted

I do agree in part. Re borrowed stock has actually zero physical direct affect on an SP

So you are suggesting a once off locked in arbitrage profit is being left there as a perception of woeful sentiment

Doesn't quiet work like that on instruments having a yield cost

You could make it work with holders in absolute cahoots

putana iere

for you - so you will get it

return on a long position is larger then the cost of a short. holding both makes DEC share price irrelevant as the arbitrage profit is locked in. divi cost for the short comes from the long. hope that helps.

ps- has nothing to do with you Putinaire .... i wrote to a different poster btw

Why would anyone want a post about treasury shorts to disappear?

Any news on DEC?

an example of the short that is not a real short

...there is now a $1.1 trillion notional short position in US treasury futures. You should not read this as the market being bearish on treasuries. It is a levered trade to make a “risk free” return on the difference in price between off the run treasuries and treasury future positions. For every short position in the treasury futures, there should be a long position in the physical market....

now i expect furious postings so this post dissappears from the first page - eg readers

shawzie - do have some sympathy.

BBPI (bulletin board posting incontinence) is still a relatively misunderstood mental health condition, requiring support and understanding.
