Ste - I disagree as almost all politicians are not that honourable especially United States politicians, therefore these 4 Democrats are being paid to smear DEC.

I don't think it's hard to know why the committee are 'interested'. They are concerned that DEC pay off their bank debt, distribute large sums to shareholders as dividends and then at the end it turns out the restoration provisions are inadequate and the state is left to pick up the bill. Hardly an unreasonable 'interest'...

Why are these 4 Democrats wanting to smear DEC?

There must be something in it for them - MONEY - but from who???

I see NYSE:DEC are down some 7.40% to $14.07
And yet our LSE:DEC have gone completly the other way, now at 1,089

Can anyone explain to a simpleton like me why this is??

$14.07 divided by an FX of 1.2650 gives us 1,112p...so the respective values are balancing out

one...shaun,
couldn't have written it better myself.

I guess the folks who have their shares in a SIPP are the best off, having to pay no WHT on the dividend. My broker, iWeb, insist on the full 30%, which is a huge differance. I might be tempted to move my tiny 278 shares to HL, as they only take 15% WHT. That would give me an extra 15% which is £115 a year more divi to me....

The emissions problem was raised some time ago and DEC responded so is the latest effort an attempt to resurrect the issue or is it more of a way to get a foot in the doorway and then lob another grenade into the room on a different matter that is linked to the reports in question.

Given the share price action did the directors have a heads up or an inkling about this issue being revisited and is that why they consolidated 20 shares rather than 10 shares to give themselves a decent margin over the minimum listing requirements.

2023 has become a transformational one for all the wrong reasons - share price destruction and a no yes on the US listing when the market value was much reduced. No wonder Oaktree weren't involved this year.

I picked I averaged down at1065 today but to be honest I think we are going to end up lower, poor management and corrupt politicians, seems I will just the dividend to make an average down with. This is going to have to be a very long term hold, let's hope nothing changes with the future dividends otherwise shareholders are screwed

It reminds me of a pyramid selling scam. BODs at the top, debt investors, then shareholders answer beneath that hundreds of dying leaky wells that needed to be tacked on at an ever increasing rate.

On 14th of last month I wrote this on here....
Discussion of the minutiae of this company is akin to rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. They don't do what they say anymore and have not for some time..This is a year when they have been selling gas through hedging at far above the prevailing rate and therefore should be in clover. However it appears that they are short of money and unable to complete more than a small fraction of a second failed buyback scheme. The decline rate has rocketed over the past five years but some posters would have us believe that this is a good performance. The share price says it all. Fifteen months of fairly steep decline leaving it today at virtually the IPO price of 2017, and yet after all this it is somehow not their fault ! Wake up people."
Well that warning proved very perspicacious and yet most posters are still discussing the minuchi eg US share pricing , and ignoring the big picture.

Blue, i got in recently, before the split, at 64p.
If they drop to,say, £10 i will have to consider buying again.
Not a lot of money in this, about 3% of P/F
£10 would be 50p in old money, with an incredible yield, so tempting...

Down to 1,480p in pre market, off 2.63%

This looks more than just some environmentalists and the DEMS asking questions, it's equity markets questioning whether indeed the business will be hit by significant charges at some point down the road.

If the market had full confidence (this will not happen) I doubt the share price would have reacted as it has.

Compensation for this 'risk' is in the form of the current payout, can that be maintained going forward?.

Hi All. I'm new here - and already underwater. The buy backs look interesting. Does anyone know how much the company is currently permitted to buy back? and has anyone been tracking where they are with that? Thanks

Not making any predictions, was just questioning your logic.

No consequence to me either way as I'm not currently trading this, just enjoying the income until sanity returns.

So if anything, you agree that a higher current US price is logically more likely to put upwards pressure on the UK price rather than downwards?

Which was all I was trying to argue.

I see your point in terms of £££

I meant that an opening drop on open in NY might put more downward pressure on share price over here
Is 1,071p now. Don't want a further drop of 1.32% on that..

kipper999

Regardless, that's still higher than here, not 'a drop at 2:30 then'

Hi Blue,
i just did it this way
$15 at FX of $1.2650 gave me 1,185p
(could be wrong, of course)

#6907 Not sure about your logic there.

Pre market 15.2, around 1200p sterling equivalent.

So US price is significantly higher (again) - not a 'further drop at 2:30 then'

yaesu, perhaps the heat will come off DEC if the anti-methane brigade are reminded that 'Heinz meanz ..fartz' and that they need to come down on the beans industry like a ton of bricks if there is to be any hope at all for the planet.

Off another 1.32% Pre market to $15.00

So a further drop for us at 2:30 then..

I get $15 to about £11.85

DEC share price starting to move down again .
With all the Buyback and Analysts recommendations and high target price - do not know why so unloved and unwanted in 2023 😔
