Only took them 300 years to get to £27.5 mil revenue and 0.5 mil profit. But the value seems to be in the long standing distinctly premium brand and what it can do for premium cider (and vinegar) with investment.

Interesting news - note that they had been talks for a year.

Going back to the discount topic, lets take a grossly over-simplified model where the revenue from a £21 recommended retail is evenly split as £7 supplier, £7 distributor and £7 seller. If the seller needs to shift stock and takes the selling price down to £18 then maybe 7-7-7 becomes 4-7-7.
So the answer I was rather expecting was that discounts always impact our bottom line and the distributor and seller try to use their size and might to preserve their own profits.
Like I said, over simplified, but it might well mean that if we ever see discounted DIS bottles on the shelves we are actually seeing a reduction in DIS's bottom line and that impacts our share price But, who ever said that life was fair?
Unfortunately, even as an ardent supporter, I still feel there is a very long way to go before DIS are offering must-have products.
GL all, pete

Thanks Suneday.

I have searched the Web many times since 2015 for Diva Vodka, I could only find a small number listing it, but none with any stock, as if the listing were old.

The current listing are far more than I ever got before, and the one's I checked all have stock.

So DIS must be ramping up production of Diva, which means investing in it, which means income and cash levels must be good.

Looking forward to that trading update even more now!

As reported earlier Jago's vanilla vodka cream liqueur has been redesigned and reformulated ready for launch; however, we have held back from major investment in production and marketing until a listing with a major retailer is secured. The cost of market entry is high in the cream liqueur category and therefore we would need to be confident that the launch would not risk eroding shareholder value. Efforts to secure major listings have been made throughout this year and will continue.

Shipments of the newly redesigned and repackaged Diva vodka have begun in the UK and Europe. Diva is a super premium offering and the initial consumer response has been positive.

It appears Distil have sneakily been loading up retailers with DIVA Vodka without telling us. Last I heard it was going to be relaunched but not a word since 2015. Now I can see loads of shops have it in stock. Something for the January trading update!

Pete very rarely worn by the retailer but that is on a case by case basis. Discounts are usually orchestrated by the manufacture rather than the retailer in larger companies fro instance.

Looking to me as if the price has been walked down to take cheap stock and now maybe we are on the back up again.

As my query is about to demonstrate, I know nothing about the pricing structure in the retail trade chain, so can someone help me with this? All the reports coming in to this thread regarding DIS sales in supermarkets and elsewhere confirm the existence of intense competition and therefore widespread bottle discounting in order to promote sales. Some of the reductions represent a significant percentage of the suggested retail price. So who suffers the reduction? Is it the sales outlet, the distributor, or the supplier, ie DIS? I guess, what I mean is, is it DIS who are losing their profits, or is it others taking the pain? Maybe there is no one-line answer, but would anyone care to take a run at it? rgds, pete

the last sales update for q2 showed what one would deem 'v.good' trading (IF compared to the industry sector as a whole)....however it is comparing like for like within the company itself which is important and on THAT basis, trading in q2 does not look especially brilliant. that said, q2 is not their busiest period.

the q3 period however, not yet reported, is their most important....and a proper benchmark as to how the brands are performing.

my feeling is that this 'should' look strong, given how much more exposure (new stores) their drinks have been in vs the corresponding period last year.

....if sales have slumped at all questions need to be asked as to why.

redleg looks good to me with a smart online presence and well distributed....

I did notice in tesco's recently they they themselves have launched a cheaper Carribean 'spiced rum' with a red coloured crab clearly emblazoned on the label! Interesting and maybe flattering?!

Will see what the figures look like.

MM control the price depending on supply and demand. Perhaps less demand is triggering the decline prompting weak-links to sell. We need some serious investors replacing these tiny weak-links.

...seems to be a bit of weakness emerging here - and somewhat close to the next trading update too. I would have expected to see it firm somewhat, if trading had been especially good.

The Redleg brand looks strong to me so I'm surprised to see this edging back...

Problem is, if the company hasn't shown another good-excellent period of yr on yr growth, I can see the stock slipping as news does not flow here as frequently as one would like (ie announcements between the key dates). Ideally, you'd like to see a run on news to help support interest between key updates.

...will be interesting to see how they've faired...

I hope they do well.

Am I not allowed to take an interest in RedLeg if I'm not a shareholder then? Its called doing research. I'm wondering if ASDA has dropped RedLeg or whether it is merely out of stock. Suppose we'll know in a week or two.

I was in Sainsbury's after work and there are 4 lines of Red Leg, sandwiched between two of Sailor Jerry's with the new bottle design and one Kraken. No sign of Blackwoods though. Not even any POS

MySquare share price shot up 118% (from 1.55 to 3.60) on TR1 notification of major interest. In November it reported margin collapse and bigger net losses, today it went up over 100%. Amazing!

Boffster Adsa only sells Redleg Rum not Blackwoods Gin; Tesco only sells Blackwoods Gin in Scottish Tescos and select Northern Ireland. I believe there are also a few UK Tesco stores that store Blackwoods Gin but it is not available currently across UK Tescos.

As I recall we have had this discussion before.

Redleg not available at ASDA.com(neither is Blackwoods but don't think it ever was?)

Blackwoods not available at Tesco.com.

Course my old mate Haggis doesn't want to tell you that.
