21/12/2017 15:10 | interesting to see the small volume sizes - is there limited available? | berny3
20/12/2017 22:11 | Currently we’ve got notional support at the 250-day line over 2.3p level and while we hold above that, a retest of the best levels of the year-to-date at 3.5p-plus seems to be on the cards. 2018 looks promising..touchwood | acdc52
20/12/2017 20:09 | 4 rows ..excellent | onedayrodders
20/12/2017 10:45 | Just been in a medium sized Tesco with 4 rows of Redleg. All clearly marked so no jiggery pokey from anyone on this board lol | jamiedodge
19/12/2017 23:16 | theotrs, I wouldn't worry about it, it's only a tiny minority and it's not the trade buyers, as far as most people are concerned it tastes great and at a decent price, they couldn't care less where it's made. | haggismchaggis
18/12/2017 13:56 | We will have to see come Christmas update. | berny3
18/12/2017 13:32 | One wonders whether an increase in promotional spend might be in order, as Gordon's did with their relaunch and new bottle last year. But Distil keen to manage outgoings in line with size of current operation. | suneday
18/12/2017 13:09 | New bottle design may appeal to retailers I suppose - Takes up less shelf space! They ought to have changed the bottle but stuck with the same label design. When I see the new label I think of grant's whiskey, similar colour / shape / olde worlde fonts | boffster
18/12/2017 13:01 | Mr A - and Sainsbury new own brand Gin. As this is a standard bottle mould it is easier to get produced in smaller volumes. Hence a lot of low volume producers are using it. The shape of the bottle has the potential to become familiar to lower valued brands poor quality Gins. The new bottle is innovation and meets with the launch of the new vintage. It is a bold statement to go with the 1920's style fashion. Sometimes you have to put it out there definitely different and memorable. | berny3
18/12/2017 11:16 | The old bottle looked exactly the same as Tesco and Asda own brands, at least this one looks a bit more individual. | mr angry
18/12/2017 10:59 | Dante ..would agree with that .. it was not until I double clicked on the image for a clear view that I picked up on the beveled edges in the glass bottle | onedayrodders
18/12/2017 10:55 | Maybe there is an element of wanting to move away from the shorter wider bottle towards the taller slimmer design. After all the king of gins uses a tall bottle (Grey Goose) Happy to let Doug make the call regardless | onedayrodders
18/12/2017 10:47 | I agree Berny that the new bottle is unique and interesting, unlike anything its competitors use, but the labelling could have been better. But apparently it all looks much much better in the flesh than in those photos we all saw... | dante17
18/12/2017 10:21 | I think the bottle design is interesting. The old design the bottle was bland and common and the label needed to stand out. The bottle now stands out on its own. Need to see it in the flesh. | berny3
18/12/2017 10:13 | I guess whilst you ensure you don't fall in love with a stock you cant stop yourself falling in love with a thread on ADVFN ;o) | onedayrodders
18/12/2017 07:41 | To be honest, I'm not overly enthusiastic about the new Blackwoods design either, and I told Don that. I preferred the colour schemes, the bending tree and the association with the Shetlands that the old design conveyed, even though the old bottle shape needed an improvement. I don't mind the new proprietary tall bottle design but the colour schemes and design of the "1920s" labels just don't do it for me (yet), but it may grow on me. What's important though is that bartenders have been consulted and the design has received a positive response from then and their punters.Re Blavod, I think the current design is the best yet and certainly an improvement on that awful black bottle design they had a while back.Redleg is and always was brilliant, as is the new Jagos design which I've been waiting to see back on the shelves for years... | dante17
17/12/2017 22:40 | Cheers Boff good to have some balance. What were your issues with the latest update? | berny3
17/12/2017 20:22 | I think the 'newly designed' Blackwoods bottle looks a bit naff. A bit old farty. By its own admission its trying to be a throwback, and I don't really think it works. I wasn't overly keen on the old one but at least it tended to catch the eye. This looks drab compared to the likes of Bombay Sapphire. They ruined the Blavod design a few years ago, then tried to fix it, although still not as good as what they had to begin with in my opinion. Regarding my changing stance, that is called being a dynamic investor, i.e. not getting married to your investments! I did indeed think past updates were impressive, but the latest one raised serious questions, in my opinion, for reasons I've already gone into, hence my present bearish outlook.. | boffster
17/12/2017 13:27 | 2 rows in local large Tesco's £15 special | onedayrodders
16/12/2017 14:39 | Gin sales in the UK are soaring! It's now ahead of whiskey and vodka. And this just as our newly-designed Blackwoods brand hits the market. Perfect timing I'd say. | dante17
16/12/2017 10:48 | Boffster sold out jan /feb missed the rise in share price..! posted negative ever since let it go...let it go Boffster - 17 Jan 2017 - 08:33:56 - 1946 of 4457 Distil PLC - Here's to a spirited future! - DIS Having been in this stock for ages, I saw the trading update this morning and was ready for more disappointment and was in the mood to sell, but this update is a belter. Should see us swinging nicely into profitability and possibly make the big boys realise that if they want to buy the brands they'll have to do so from the shareholders not the administrators. | cody1 |
