Yup - it's becoming a regular income; up to 30p dip and a retrace...

Only small volumes possible, but better than a kick in the teeth, which is what the markets normally give.

Really strange reaction, GS buy, announce, share price tanks. I just keep topping up below 500

It is a really good level of volatility, albeit temporarily. The oscillations are declining, and it looks it's going to settle around 500-510, but it has been like a cashpoint for a couple of weeks.

Nice to see Goldmans involved - they're salt of the earth types, always honest in everything they do...

The volatility on this is quite something - been in and out in a number of separate tranches several times since first buying in, a couple of times on the same day.

Not sure it will continue, but enjoying it.

ONS death rates over the 5 yr average in the last two weeks .. don’t forget market assuming 1k a week fewer in H2 .. so far since mid June the cumulative undershoot is around 1,200 in the last ten weeks

My guess - fund manager selling to fund an end of month redemption. Which is why selling finished up yesterday. T+2 settlement means cash from sales Wednesday arrives Friday for end August transfer.

Bit more than a tree shake - 650 to 450 in a few days.

But very nice for those of us who didn't get in first time with the CMA leak. Report published on 13th August, share price was already up over 400, having been marooned flat at 250 in July.

I would be interested in the results of the FCA monitoring. But won't be holding my breath...

Well I've done my bit - just bought for the first time. Not very liquid, couldn't get a quote, had to do it off-piste.

Suspect I will have to do my usual and buy more, lower.

£25 was based on ever increasing prices, they can't do that anymore. I can see £10 but not £25

The market is assuming that average deaths undershoot in H2 by around 25,00 deaths resulting in total deaths of 625,000. The cumulative undershoot in the last 6 weeks (since act death fell below av 5 year death) in around is 1,430, which would indicate that av deaths maybe nearer 640,000 and that's assuming no second wave and people dying because they can't see a consultant. I agree with exile and think this goes back to £25.

"anyone know the next trigger for these ?"

A pandemic perhaps? No, wait, I know, another leak from the CMA of course!

By the way, CMA proposing that the industry should report to it on an ongoing basis, is just a proposal and nothing more. At the moment, it does not have investigative powers outside the two year time limit on an investigation (for the funeral industry that finished in March 2021).

There's a good article in the Times today, which criticises the CMA:

"Less so the proposal that it have the power to act on competition issues outside formal investigations, with an ability to compel businesses to provide information about their practices and to accept legal undertakings to avoid formal investigation. The CMA’s integrity could be seriously undermined by the lack of accountability and transparency inherent in these pseudo-investigations."
