18/12/2003 16:29 | I agree idioterna, now is not the time to sell. Like you, I intend to see the final results with my present holding intact. I guess the weak US$ will have some effect, but hopefully this will be off set by the strong ? A 150k T just gone through at the mid ;0) Best wishes for Xmas and the New year. | besbury
18/12/2003 12:21 | So the big sells were a pension fund. I'm still holding and will wait until results are published for a further sense of direction. The turnaround in both the share price and the company's balance sheet have been phenomenal this year so I'm inclined to stick to my guns. Have a very merry xmas with plenty of sausages :-) See y'all next year. | idioterna

30/11/2003 09:47 | Could Glasgow become battle ground for clash of Celtic tigers? BARFLY SCOTLAND has been something of a magnet for an elite of super-rich Irish investors in recent years. Dermot Desmond, below, the multi-millionaire financier, is the biggest shareholder in Celtic Football Club. His pal John Magnier, who has made his fortune breeding horses, has a 14% stake in Devro, the Lanarkshire-based sausage skin maker. And now another rich Irishman, Noel Smyth, is about to pump millions into property on the River Clyde. His company, Alburn Tradeston, has been chosen to spearhead the £300m regeneration of the Tradeston waterfront site on the Clyde. But Smyth may not be getting too close to at least one of his compatriots in the gentlemen's clubs of Glasgow. He and Desmond are old enemies after a boardroom battle last year led to Smyth being forced out of the property company he founded, Dunloe Ewart. Nor does it end there. Desmond is also said to have blocked Smyth's attempt to take over the captaincy of the K Club, the exclusive golf and country club in County Kildare owned by Michael Smurfitt. Will the battles now move to Glasgow? Not much, but every little snippet keeps Devro in the news;0) | besbury
