06/5/2004 14:20 | I largely agree with you shuisky. I am trying to decide if it is worthwhile buying back those I sold on April 27th @£1.1118 for the current £1.0750. I still hold over 60k, so I suppose I should be content for the time being. | besbury
06/5/2004 12:42 | BNesbury- I think it's just the mood of the market at the moment. Small cap punters are getting nervy, and looking for excuses to take profits. There are a lot of smallcaps dropping on absolutely no newsflow. I'm finding this very frustrating, but I think the key is not to lose focus on the underlying fundamentals that brought us to buy into the stocks that we like. DVO prospects look encouraging, they still generate lumps of free cash, the dividend increase at the finals was 16.7%, net debt reduced and the potential for continued EPS and DPS growth looks good. | shuisky
06/5/2004 08:42 | Does anyone read anything in the above "Trading Update", that warrants a 3.8% fall in the share price? | besbury
06/5/2004 07:06 | Devro PLC 06 May 2004 DEVRO PLC Trading update 6 May 2004 Trading for the year-to-date has been sound, with a positive sales performance being delivered by each of our principal operations - Devro, Coria and Cutisin. The more stable underlying trading pattern of 2003 has been maintained in 2004 with many of our key markets recording improvements over prior year. While there have been some difficulties created by collagen sourcing and reformulation issues arising from the single case of BSE in the US in late 2003, underlying operating performance has still been generally solid. The strength of sterling is beginning to have some adverse impact on group profits but this is expected to be limited in its effect. Our investment programme to improve and increase manufacturing capacity in the Czech Republic has now commenced. Good progress is being made on this major expansion of our facilities at Cutisin. Our new product development programme continues to make satisfactory progress, and initial signs are encouraging for the fast-dissolving thin edible film which is currently targeted at the breath freshener market. We are now moving to upgrade our basic development and test facility, located in Moodiesburn, to a larger pilot production unit, based in Hamilton, near Glasgow. While this transfer is well advanced, with production expected to commence during the third quarter, we still do not anticipate that this product will contribute significantly to the group's performance in 2004. We continue to believe, however, that it will be of greater commercial significance in 2005. We remain committed to improving our market position through improving our products and processes and investment in our technology. As a result, the prospects for the business, as reflected in the current order book and longer-term market outlook, continue to be encouraging. The Directors therefore continue to view the company's future with confidence and optimism. 04/5/2004 20:03 | We now have a 6th shareholder with a major interest, to add to the other 5 I listed in post 1513: The Pru now hold 4,820.382 or 3% of the shares currently in issue. | besbury
27/4/2004 21:10 | let,s all buy sausages for the b.b.q.s.Devro looking tasty. | clydeman
23/4/2004 16:37 | There was indeed some profit taking today Ginster, however, the mms were quite content to pay above the bid all day. The reason for this became apparent just before the close, with a "T" buy of 750K @ 112.25p. Now I wonder who that could be! Regards B | besbury
22/4/2004 19:05 | Many thanks Ginster.I will take the copius measure of my favourite tipple, but if you don't mind, I will pass the generous portion of sausage and mash as I am somewhat over my best fighting weight at the moment:0)) Regards B | besbury
22/4/2004 18:03 | Thank you for that information Besbury, all very encouraging. Well the recent trend has continued today on low volume. Price has moved up 8p in the last week or approx 7%. Maybe the latest buy rec from Investec on Monday was the reason or maybe we will get some news via the media over the next week or so. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow with regard to any profit taking etc. By the way congratulations on your astute investment ..you have my full permission to give yourself a large pat on the back and treat yourself to a copious measure of your favorite tipple together with a generous portion of sausage and mash! | ginster

In addition to the foregoing, I have extracted the following from the FT Analysts recs as of today, with a consensus Outperform recommendation. Buy..............1 Outperform.......3 Hold.............1 Underperform.....0 Sell.............0 I believe todays closing price is a new 12 month high. I am feeling quite chuffed, as my 65k are up 103% on cost and a juicy divi due next month. | besbury
16/4/2004 10:41 | Seems to be quite a bit of stregnthening on very little volume, wonder if there is more to it,Late trades? to be noted | scrapman
23/3/2004 08:40 | Bit late in replying Besbury, but no, I'm not a major stakeholder (never had more than 125k). I've diversified my portfolio (DVO was getting too large!) but did increase my holding after results but only hold 16,500 now. Personally I don't think there's any "major secret stakeholders" who've been selling off (with the exception of "the butcher", but he's not a "secret stakeholder"). There might have been a couple of large sells from Acomita, but they do own a lot of the company and a dilution of their stake wouldn't do any harm to Devro's share price, as long as it's managed properly. Anyway, the increase in liquidity will entail more small holders which always bodes well for the long term price. I still think this is one to put away for the long term. | idioterna
20/3/2004 09:45 | A snippet from the Times Market Report this am. Raised profit forecasts from Investec Securities helped sausage skin maker Devro up 3¼p at 106¼p. I have been away for a few days, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the share price heading north once more, on my return. No doubt the IC "Buy" rec + Investec's raised profit forecasts served to influence the buying spree yesterday. In addition to your reported 3 x 100k buys idioterna, there were several more significant trades later, including a "T" trade 460,189 @ 106p & a 150k @106.5. idioterna, Sounds as though you are quite pleased to have "got out of artic circle posting" You will have no need of those snow balls! Unfortunately the weather is not conducive to taking the sticks for some excercise this morning. (Cold with heavy rain showers). Prospects look better for next week. Regards B | besbury
19/3/2004 10:56 | 3 x 100k buys today. | idioterna
19/3/2004 08:38 | Kind of IC to tip Devro, a bit behind the curve though. I notice the £1 support held very easily despite the turbulence of the past weeks market action. Devro coming into their own as a defensive? This could have a great summer. ;-) Besbury - I managed to get out of the artic circle posting!! Have accepted a new position within the financial services sector. Unfortunately entails a couple of trips to that place nobody wants to go. Have a fine round, The Idiot | idioterna

08/3/2004 16:01 | nice move up 6.0 on good volume. | skippypower
05/3/2004 13:34 | Besbury - still no golf here but the Pings are raring to go. Will be getting in a couple of rounds in the UK at the end of April. Unfortunately I'm about to relocate to a godforsaken town way up in the artic circle. Permafrost until june but 24 hour tee-times May-August. idioterna. I have just arrived home from another enjoyable 18 holes. I left home just before the market opened to ensure that I was not tempted to sell a few more. In addition to DVO, I have 153k of NOP, which made quite a rewarding move this morning. Regards B | besbury
05/3/2004 11:28 | only got into these cos the epic reminded me of Devo, what a top band anyone remember them? | cadwell
