I think the writing was on the wall once JV returned, I bet you could have cut the atmosphere with a knife. I talked with a well-respected manager earlier this week and he supported much of what you have said on here.

I also hear this Jimmy character is making a good positive impact, so with only 19 shops it should be simple enough to build the business back to where it was before they lost the plot.

They have tough competition locally from McKenzie Meats where I hear Christmas hamper orders are well ahead of expectations.

Sad to see another Rotherham company appoint administrators today. Fishing Republic was a solid company before listing with a terrific founder that lived & breathed the business but advisors pushed for expansion just as they did here.

I think for such companies like FISH & CRAW they would be better to pursue crowdfunding giving meat box subscriptions and fishing tackle as investment incentives and this way remain unlisted.

Monzo funded £20 million without any effort within hours so it’s not unrealistic.

Good example:

Shareholders are in cloud cuckoo land if they think they'll see a penny. The tiny proceeds will go to the property owners of the closed shops.

Buyer confirmed as Mr Thomas Cribbin and shareholders will be getting something back eventually.

Thomas paid 1.4M for the whole group and NC paid him £4M for Gabbots 3 years ago so a smart chap.

"When it comes to meat, I’m pretty old-fashioned. Half carcasses, wooden butchers’ blocks and a bit of blood on aprons only adds to the experience, in my book."

JV was put through the mill here so I’m happy to learn he has come out of this with something worthwhile.

Scotty boy, I hope you also get back into the business as anyone with such passion wins my vote and suspect JV would agree with me.
