18/11/2013 13:48 | A very high turnout expected tonight with 47 currently booked in for dinner. I see there have been lots of trades again this morning with pretty high volumes overall so good news as it has clearly raised the profile of Crawshaw. Just need to see how they all like the potential growth story. One or two stores a year and a good internet driven home delivery offering would be great news to my ears but lets see how Richard sees it from here ? | davidosh
15/11/2013 13:00 | Agree with the thoughts about avoiding any significant further debt ... the business should IMO focus on organic growth. Just thought I'd float the concept :) | chrisis33
15/11/2013 10:19 | On your point about home delivery i can see no reason why a pilot scheme couldn't be started with telephone orders then progressing to online and investment in such if the pilot proves successful. In time deliveries could be centralised and not from individual shops, i see no reason why this wouldn't work if it is cost effective but a minimum charge is a must. Certainly worth a go but more steady as she goes store openings at say one a year should be the focus imv. | battlebus2
15/11/2013 08:44 | I agree that loans in any significant size is not the way in which they want to go. I think they're rightly conservative in that respect, and have done well to pay down the majority of debt. The challenge feels to me to expand in a capital efficient manner. Geographically focused delivery seems a good possibility, and I think there would be demand. Any other thoughts on how they might grow top and bottom lines without significant Capex, given that the current twenty or so shops must be approaching full efficiency. | briangeeee
15/11/2013 08:15 | I think loans would be out of the question , imo ofcourse. | battlebus2
15/11/2013 08:11 | Or a £2m loan = 5 shops? | chrisis33
15/11/2013 02:30 | Just thinking logically on the home delivery front....Is there anything to stop a Crawshaws hamper being made available through Ocado for next day delivery if Crawshaws were able to get a continuous supply through to the Ocado fulfilment centre. I do not know how strong the Ocado fresh meat offer is but just a thought as hampers make good presents. As another option would Crawshaws deliver down to one address in London if I had say 30 hampers on order to give out as gifts ? Questions for Richard on Monday no doubt. Incidentally if any of you that cannot make it have questions for me to ask on Monday evening and will particularly benefit the wider audience in hearing the answer then do please put them on here. | davidosh
15/11/2013 00:28 | Each time Crawshaws open a new shop, IIRC, it costs about £400k to fit it out. So, what if they could increase their volumes sharply with much reduced CAPEX. IMO, they could target specific towns, selling mainly on price, with product from a well established butcher. Say 50 deliveries of £40 each per van per day, all in one town. That way it's possible to deliver free and get good volume. Obviously the numbers can be fiddled with, but you could imagine there the possibility to grow revenue substantially. Here are a few examples: Roaming Roosters Lancashire based, supplying meat from very local farmers. 01282 612828 Use APC couriers to deliver nationwide. Packed in insulated boxes so OK for re-delivery the next day. Special instruction on delivery so can leave where required or will re-deliver the next day. Free delivery on orders over £100, £5.95 on orders over £50, or £6.95 on other orders. Gribble Butchers - Buy whole animals and birds from local farmers. Seem to be quite expensive. 01752 893030 Local orders over £25 are free delivery, otherwise £10+vat delivery. Will leave with a neighbour or per instruction if you're not in. Nationwide orders over £100 are free delivery, otherwise £10+vat delivery. Will leave with a neighbour or per instruction if you're not in. Meat Packs Claim to undercut supermarkets by 30% Free orders on £75 or more nationwide, except from remote areas, using a national courier. On other orders, £9.95 national or £3.50 local. Will leave with a neighbour or follow other instruction if not at home. Fresh Meat Direct One of the cheapest online butchers, but prices only comparable with the supermarkets. Free delivery on deliveries over £80. Packed in dry ice to keep cool for up to 36 hours. | briangeeee
14/11/2013 19:08 | Likewise, thank you Davidosh. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, I'm unable to make it, but it's great to see CRAW getting some exposure. Playful, I have Look East over here, but looks like CRAW are getting their ducks in a row with regards to promoting the business. Nice turnaround today for the share price to hold 10p. | chrisis33
14/11/2013 18:59 | Did anyone else just see our CEO Kevin Boyd pop-up on the telly? He was giving an interview on Look North talking about retail in Sheffield. Great promotion for Crawshaw Butchers! | playful
14/11/2013 18:17 | No problem bb2....As you know I cannot just sit back as a shareholder and hope that companies not only do well but also get their day in the sun. I like to do everything possible to help investors engage with companies they invest in and also allow companies to efficiently communicate with shareholders and potential shareholders. The restaurant will be packed on Monday so it is up to Richard to engage...there will be lots of questions. It would have been useful if Lynda had been able to come down as well because so many ask financial questions relating to the accounts but hopefully Richard will cope with most of them If any of you want to add anything on that thread you are very welcome btw | davidosh
14/11/2013 17:35 | I just want to thank davidosh on behalf of all the shareholders here in his efforts and time involved with the Mello event that will no doubt bring Crawshaws to the attention of so many more investors. And of course not forgetting the time etc taken by our own Richard Rose for agreeing to present. | battlebus2
14/11/2013 15:59 | Nice write up about the upcoming Mello event where Crawshaws R.R. will present.. | battlebus2
13/11/2013 21:58 | I would wholeheartedly agree with the introduction of a home delivery hamper service which could easily be outsourced to a local courier for fulfilment, so I'd hope it will be on the agenda at our next board meeting. | playful
13/11/2013 15:15 | It would be nice if they could deliver those hampers to within say a ten mile radius of their stores for an additional £5 and then folks could order and pay on their website and give friends a surprise treat for Christmas and boost sales. | davidosh
13/11/2013 07:58 | I may go buy something like that from our new Sheffield store on opening day! | playful
13/11/2013 07:50 | Good to see playful. Sirloin steak as the deal of the week is a real bargain. hxxp://www.crawshawb | battlebus2
12/11/2013 08:08 | Has net assets too in the distribution centres and delivery fleet. Growth is what yhe market's sniffing now IMO. | chrisis33
12/11/2013 08:06 | Traded at 13p when the company wasn't in anywhere as good a shape as it is now. | battlebus2
12/11/2013 08:04 | Still only 5.5 million market cap, new store openings, increasing dividend payments and throwing off cash i don't think so. but as ever dyor etc... | battlebus2
12/11/2013 07:57 | P.e 29 surely it's run away with itself. | montyhedge
11/11/2013 21:43 | Great to see our company's potential being recognised. Regrettably I will be unable to attend Novembers Mello event but wish everyone attending a pleasant evening. | playful
11/11/2013 17:59 | very nice to see the late reported trade there ... :) | chrisis33
11/11/2013 17:19 | Thanks shrout. Late trade at 10.25 bodes well for further gains tomorrow. Will have to check my contract notes as to when i last paid 10p for these but fabulous to be back at those levels and justifiably so imho. | battlebus2 |
