This company must surely have yet again breached banking covenants, which in the past, presumably underwritten by Oaktree, they have managed to renegotiate. This time around, with debt comfortably exceeding market cap, discussions will be VERY tricky. Unlikely to survive in current format, particularly as the house sales market has lurched almost to a standstill in the last 14 days-with no early recovery possible. Personally, I would not now buy the shares at any price as all small investors will get totally crushed in any restructuring.

Aren't they going to be overwhelmed by the debt?

The fact that the debt hasn't been mentioned in the recent RNSs is telling IMO.

priced for bust but not a certainty....question really is is the virus rhetoric exagerated or is there something we dont know?

builders were priced for bust in 2009/2010 but proved to be a bargain

my opinion fwiw is its better to buy at a higher price whwen virus outcome is known and when cwd seem on a better financial footing....it is still a bargain at 400p if its not going bust

in my experience its too risky and there is a good chance of losing all your money whwn you see things like this

It's approaching the end for shareholders, isn't it?

Why would LSL make an offer now? Isn't there a possibility they're thinking they'd get cheaper via a pre-pack?

If they are going to make them an offer-they better hurry up as the business is hurtling towards the knackers yard at a quite remarkable pace!

Are LSL really going to make them a decent offer? What happens if they don't and no LSH buyer? No mention of the D word. Always look for what an estate agent doesn't say IMO.

Good luck to the (not very special) management team at LSL seeking to takeover Cwd from possibly the most incompetent management team and board of directors ever to hold office in a previously European market leading business.I would rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick than hold their shares.

A second prominent agent has broken cover to say Coronavirus is slowing the market.

Jess Simpson - an ex-Savills and ex-Strutt and Parker sales agent - says the virus is curbing international interest in high-end country property.

Simpson, who now runs her own buying agency, says: “International buyers at the top end of the market do not want to fly in for viewings due to the Coronavirus outbreak and fear of travelling at the moment. As the spread increases and fears of a pandemic rise, it’s becoming a real issue - two clients whom I was due to meet last week, both travelling internationally into London, have cancelled their travel plans.”

She says this problem comes on top of other issues hurting the market including uncertainty over the contents of next week’s Budget and the recent flurry of storms and flooding, which she says could slash 30 per cent off asking prices of affected properties.

No one will do viewings if the vendor is contaminated or visitors could contaminate
