WJ I was just thinking that yesterday, but I'd have to look at what their funding is like over the next year or so don't think they are making yet. If they do a raise then it changes the amount of bags so to speak.

Perish the thought that branch performance might actually be important in the whole scheme of things ! No laughing matter .

It comes back to the old chestnut its a shame now the market is improving that CWD is run by donkeys Little hands on agency expereince at board level as evidenced by some of the stupid decisions they have and continue to make

They didnt cut out enough deadwood yet cremated the excellent Greene & Co by merging with Hamptons losing a whole load of clients Instructions dropped like a stonein those branches post merger last Autumn

Here is what the founder said and he should know as he made a huge success of it

Mike Greene
OCTOBER 1, 2019 AT 15:04#9
Estate Agency has changed beyond all recognition since 20th August 1980 , when GREENE and Co opened its’ doors for the 1st time at 322 West End Lane NW6.

I suppose it’s a compliment to the strength of the GREENE and Co brand that it’s taken 4 years for CW to dismantle the last vestiges of it.

I remember in the late 1980’s when Halifax bought Jackson’s Property Services and then aggressively went on the acquisition trail and gobbled up many independents – and immediately jettisoned many well known , loved and respected names . And all they had bought was some very expensive short leasehold premises .

And that went rather well – didn’t it?

The reality is that in a rising and buoyant property market the ‘corporates217; can do pretty well . Markets like the current one requires leadership that is nimble and can adapt and re- position their companies to survive tougher conditions.

David Pollock was an inspirational leader , who with no disrespect to CW’s management, has never been adequately replaced .

RIP GREENE and CO

August 1980 – October 2019

Many of the branches in the south carrying too little stock .Many with less than 30

Here is one of the small brands Woods based in Bristol .Its almost looks as if its not worth turning up to open the office
4 offices incl 1just lets . A paltry 27 sales instructions 38 to rent

On a postive note it can only get better !

Yes certainly picked up which is good news. Looking at some of the John D Wood offices they have been carrying very little stock with just a handful of sales since the summer which doesnt augur well for H2

Lets face it a few extra £2m + sales makes all the difference

What is noticeable is the integration of the 5 Greene N London offices into Hamptons has not been a great success

That was always going to be the case with huge culture difference between the 2 A few of Greene's negotiaters have left for pastures new probably taking some decent clients with them

The way of all flesh

From Yahoo Finance.

Property sales jumped immediately after the Conservatives’ decisive election victory last month, according to a new industry survey.

A majority of chartered surveyors interviewed across Britain reported a jump in the number of sales agreed in December compared with the previous month. It was the first time since May last year the monthly survey has seen more respondents predict growth than decline.

Expectations of greater sales over the year ahead soared among members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which released its latest residential market survey on Thursday.

It showed 66% of members expected sales to increase, up significantly from 35% last month.

Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at RICS, said it was a fresh sign that greater certainty over Brexit from the decisive win for prime minister Boris Johnson had boosted confidence.

Topped up thus morning. Have spoken with several big EAs in the last few days, all reporting a very significant spike in activity. Will take some time to flow through to £££s, but situation looks significantly better than pre-election. Positive comment from Savills, Winkworths and the 3 housebuilders in the last few days support the improving conditions. CWD have leading / dominant positions across EA, Lettings, surveys and mortgage distribution. Debt is dropping and now far more manageable. Re-rating on the cards as the market catches up.

It's true. Hamptons let a property every 11 minutes. And every 27 minutes we agree a sale. Last year we handed over the keys to more than 15,000 properties. That's a lot of keys, and a lot of happy people.
