15/11/2012 08:34 | ..during 2008 many mines and projects were placed on care and maintenance until things picked up. The above is not rubbish, it is fact. The same thing is happening now, with lower commodity prices and less interest by buyers in picking up assets plus constrained credit supplies we are seeing a similar thing now. Conserving cash is key, which is what CDC are doing. | the count of monte_cristo
14/11/2012 17:53 | duxy , nobody ever expected this company to go into production, but to sell on the asset or complete a JV, both of these options have been blown out of the water , and that is down to their incompetance, and if its more sinister than that , then we shall surely find out in due course . From where I'm standing it all looks a bit dodgy to say the least, should get confirmation that the pinos have booted them out fairly soon , or will they pull the rabbit out of the hat? | jotoha2
14/11/2012 17:23 | jotoha2 ... think you live in lala land if you believe that "churning out zillions" statement. Think about the logic for a second.... Example (and before anyone gets on a high horse about figures, this is just that, an example) You have 10M tonnes of Copper in your mine Copper price was $2000/Ton 18 Months ago...your mine was churing out 10 Tons a day. Then all of a sudden, China say they have enough copper, so prices drop to all time low of $800/Ton. Would you keep churing out 10 Tons a day? or would you take a hit 'due to the copper price' and lay off staff, slow down operations and only churn 4-5 Tons a day, holding back the copper in the mine. This is the time for this sort of mine to simply break even and survive....and ride the storm out...at the other end of this storm the world will demand more copper. I have read some examples where certain investment arms of banks have deliberately advised a mine to stop producing, going as far as paying off the work force to stop all operations until prices pick up. This would be hard to prove without facts in court let alone here, but to me that makes business sense. Yes you loose out initally by paying a few million in salaries but overally, you benefin in the long term. | duxy786
14/11/2012 14:53 | What sort of rubbish is that , are BHP and RTZ on sleep mode , of course not , they are churning out zillions of tons of copper, the world has not stopped, its only our merry gang of cowboys who have been caught out at their attempt of screwing everyone who ever invested here, but then again , looking at the cash left , then they have pretty much destroyed both companies!!! | jotoha2
13/11/2012 18:11 | its called care and maintenance...or hibernation until commodity prices start to rise again or interest picks up. | the count of monte_cristo
13/11/2012 16:08 | Do you think Alland is taking to many afternoon naps, apparantly it is something one enjoys when you hit 70 plus , certainly the lack of news confirms he must be sleeping on the job! But then again, as Crazy horse has also been placed on sleep mode , then maybe thats the plan , lets sleep through all the issues affecting both companies until we wake up in lala land! | jotoha2
