Thanks bud,

One factor perhaps not recognised is the 'Woolworths effect'

Woolworths demise cracks open Easter egg market

By Andrea Felsted and Elizabeth Rigby

Published: April 10 2009 05:03 | Last updated: April 10 2009 05:03

The demise of Woolworths is cracking open the Easter egg market for rival retailers as sales of the traditional chocolate treats soar after Britain's biggest egg seller collapsed last year.

Some of Britain's biggest retailers are seeing increases between 20 per cent and 50 per cent in sales of Easter eggs as customers scramble for alternative suppliers in the wake of Woolworths – the nation's destination for Easter eggs – being put into administration at the end of November.

One of their largest holders are accumulating stock;

If you look at the last holdings rns it states 20% odd but in fact it's 22% odd, the reason being is they are not required to notify the market until the next level which is probably 25%

Looks like they had a line of stock to go, which has just shown up, 4.5m

Today is going to be one of the highest volume days for cc. certainly for the last two years!

Hopefully once the overhang is cleared it will drift north, had a similar situation with another stock recently (cra) that doubled once the forced sellers were cleared.

Another institution mopping up stock, this could put the shorts in somewhat of a corner especially with this lot holding 20%

Maybe, but finance concerns now sorted and retail index breaking out strongly -

Still (as of Feb) 6% out on loan so perhaps a few forced buyers may join in.

Volume on break,

This will be a battle to get to decent prices - as most people will take profits on any small rises instead of holding - but hey if more people get into the share it will hopefully become a quicker riser as it has been dormant for a long time!!

What's people's thoughts on the consolidation effect?

Basically those stores in the retail sector that are left standing and make it out the other side of this recession?

It looks like cc will make it through with much of their competition effectively gone, it's not just cc but anything in the retail sector especially fashion, tbk springs to mind here as a beneficiary also.

Terry - I am a long term holder - about 8 years!! Only since last October have I got into using the computer to carry out trades - I topped up several times while about 9p. i know retail sales etc throughout country all down - but CC. is fundamentaly a good company, especially after sorting its financing out. I will be holding on the hope of late 30s-40s - if it gets there great! I will be breakeven at 16p so not too far - good luck MM

Mutley - are you holding these long term or are you thinking about cashing in? I had a quick punt on Monday, which happily paid off with the rise in the share price I'm not sure whether to cash in or not at the moment?
