This thread is here for all the follically(sic) challenged out there.

As a fellow of the "tidal" hair club, I hope we can discuss the various ways of unshining those pates, and general chat on the subject.

I'll be looking for a guest speaker in the coming weeks.

Combover, the movie! -

this is a quite remarkable opportunity imo and am surprised this is receiving very little buying attention

There was a strong sell note in the Independent (FWIW) last week...citing the poor trading figures upto 16 November as evidence of severe difficulties for Clintons.

At this rate though...it looks more like a prize takeover target to me. I've been monitoring a while and will probably buy in if it gets below 6p.

Clinton is an amazingly strong brand for me and whilst the recession will bite - my gut instinct is that the modestly priced luxuries that Clinton sells will still appeal...

The issue you have is that Clinton's have a revolving credit facility that they used to buy Birthdays. That is due to be re-financed next year. With a highly leveraged operational model they need sales to keep up or else it may prove difficult to re-finance given the current banking situation. That is why there is an exodus from the company at the moment. It all depends whether you think it will be a problem or not. If you think not, it's a bargain.

clinton cards debt situation/gearing is not too bad is it. very little vol traded on this so price movement can be huge on this volumes but surely lewin would want to take this private? but at what price? 10p now

s34icknote - Not really, on a day (today) when Woolworths and MFI both go into administration brokers will definately be reanalysing their targets....

very little volume and basically doing nothing but surely there is value here, went to the high street and saw many customers buying cards etc.... people still buying and all this doom and gloom doesn't really seem reflected in the real world does it. anyway, at 14p these do seem far too cheap and surely some bid activity either from lewin or from outside cannot be ruled out.
