28/1/2009 22:14 | Speculative buying drove Chloride up 22¾p to 146¾p. The group, which now specialises in secure power systems, was the subject of a 255p-a-share offer from Emerson in last June. Gossip suggests the US company may be ready to have another crack at Chloride. | bones30

28/1/2009 12:16 | ok ... so CHLD back in play perhaps. Still think the first offer was too low, but the markets have made even long termers re-assess their position. Interesting times | mr.oz
28/1/2009 11:38 | From FT Alphaville today: Hang on - breaking Raw incoming NH I have NH Cholride NH makes uninterprutable power supplies NH shares up 12.5p at 136.5p NH hearing Emmerson are set to return with a fresh offer BE Interesting. BE Any indication of price? NH it starts with a 2 apparently NH Emmerson bid around 18 months ago NH but walked after they could not get agreement BE What was the previous bid? NH checking now BE And Emmerson just did a $500m bond issue, right? NH here's and FT.com story on that NH it was 255p NH Shares in Chloride surged on Monday after the power protection group rejected a takeover approach from Emerson Electric of the US. Chloride said the approach, which comes as investors continue to circle technology infrastructure assets, was pitched at 255p a share. It "was subject to a number of conditions and pre-conditions including due diligence", "materially undervalued the company and its prospects" and accordingly had been rejected by the board. Emerson confirmed it had first approached Chloride on March 18 with a proposed cash offer, but cautioned that there was no certainty that an offer would be forthcoming. At 255p share the approach gave Chloride a market value of £657m ($1.3bn, 833m). Shares in Chloride jumped 26 per cent or 55p to 263p in afternoon London trading. Chloride is expecting another year of record sales as it benefits from the need to safeguard mission-critical applications at investment banks, datacentres, oil rigs and the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow. The group, which specialises in maintaining uninterrupted power to sensitive IT and industrial equipment, estimates sales for the year should increase to about 30 per cent higher than last year. BE Ta for that. | tokolosh

23/1/2009 11:17 | Technically we appear to have broken down a short term key level at c. 115. next target would be 3 year low of dead on 90p... I hope we don't get there though! Whatsc interesting about CHLD is their increasing expansion in places like India. The next update will tell us if this expansion is being adversely affected. If it isn't we should see a nice bounce from here in early Feb... Just me "guesstimating" do you own research etc. All I do know is that the director who bought 50,000+ shares last week won't be chuffed with this price.. | tilmanstone
23/1/2009 11:16 | CHLD website states IMS due Feb 2009. | sleveen
23/1/2009 11:05 | Fair comment | paragon157
23/1/2009 10:37 | Agree that this seems oversold, however in these markets we have to invent new yardsticks. Good companies with solid trading histories are operating in a much more hostile climate that's bound to impact on values. Aside from a likely drop in revenues, a lot of firms are going to struggle with rapidly declining pension reserves. | danwaits
23/1/2009 10:27 | Having said what I just said is this 108/109p area what in normal markets what we could consider a Support Level ? Views anyone ? | paragon157
23/1/2009 10:16 | Agree a very Good Company .. The trouble is these days the Market Conditions are now just so Manipulative the Smaller Investors can get caned on next to nothing Trading Volume wise ! Really is a case of Patience and Holding Your Nerve . | paragon157
23/1/2009 10:07 | Can't believe todays drop.... Last year they gave an interim update on 30th January so there will be an update soon. I agree with JUGEARS: they look a steal at these prices, but we may have to be patient... DYOR etc. | tilmanstone
23/1/2009 08:58 | Well said ! Is there some Results or a Trading Statement due soon ? | paragon157
23/1/2009 00:20 | cant see why, I have been investing for 28 years, this is one of the most well ran companies I have ever invested in ( I have held chloride shares on & off for most of that time) They have agood management, Cash in the bank & a very Good order book I would rate this as being one of the safest companies to be in. I beleive an analyst down graded them because he didn't think the prospects were to good for them.In my opinion you can not predic what the future holds Until its happend.I have ran my own company for nearly thirty years & still can't predict what orders will come next week let alone 2010/2011. | jugears
