A quick post on Microphone Test Day.

Bit of a down day for Chariot today so I have bought a few more to sell on sooner or later.

Could go either way though and trading at cash there isn't a great deal of risk.

I'm happy to have around 2% in Char at these prices, but I would agree that the 25% COS figure is misleading. A success is not always going to be what a PI would regard as a success, with a big uplift on SP, it might be finding a load of HC shows over a large column, and FOGL owners know that doesn't always lead to a profit. It looks pretty likely there's a lot of oil down there, and that given time someone will produce some of it, but it's much harder to know how much of the profits are going to be shared by a small cap like Char. As Log has said these wells are very expensive, and being able to fund a couple is no guarantee that you are going to be able to stay at the table to the end of the game.

For Char to end up a major winner for investors they are going to need a very good result (flowing light oil over a decent column and good permeability) early on. They haven't had it yet, though they remain in the game, but talking about 8 wells at 25% COS gives a misleading impression of the odds of a big return for shareholders. That doesn't mean that a more modest return over as longer period isn't possible, they may be able to stay in by farming down (and down), but a big hit requires early, clear success, and the COS of that is a lot less than 25% on a well.

£45/share => £9bn MCap .... won't happen.

£4.50/share => £900m MCap .... with a good find or two, that's quite possible at t/o

Yeah the old 25% CoS - thing is it normally turns out more like 10% as far as I can see. The big guys will want the lion's share and they'll get it. The problem will come if they don't see enough success to warrant spending more capital to get to the end game. These wells are very very expensive. If we don't start to get some decent results in the next two or three then CHAR is going to find it pretty hard to get carried and they don't have enough cash to get very far on their own.

Could go either way though and trading at cash there isn't a great deal of risk. I don't think we'll see £40/shr though that just is very unlikely IMHO.
