16/9/2004 20:55 | Hi, i'm new to this board but have held CPL for some time and although I'm no accountant the shares seem oversold. Today's bulletin estimates 1.8m bad debt which will presumably be a 'one off' but this is countered to some extent by reduced debt interest. The closure of the canadian business weill incur initial loss but the board state that it should ultimately be cost neutral. The real crunch I supose is the proportion of the business affected by the american wallcoverings market but since specialist coverings division is only about 40% of the company how big can this be. Like Parsopa1 I'll look for the bottom over the next few days as an opertunity to top up my holding Anyone expand on any of the above? | jamnj
16/9/2004 18:51 | I'm hanging in also. Unfortunately, we were just about at the value where I was breaking even on the average price. just have to wait a while longer. I have the same thoughts that it will recover at some point although just now the drop makes quite a dent in my portfolo value. Oh well its only money!!! | geminian
16/9/2004 17:39 | Ouch! Well this one hurts. Got most of mine at 6 p, so could still sell for profit, but also think its a good opportunity to get more cheaply. Will be waiting to see where it bottoms-out before I do so. The board have a good track record, so I'm confident of recovery over time. I remain intrigued by the new Business ventures they are pursuing which are again referred to in a positive light. | parsopa1
16/9/2004 17:21 | Mr & Mrs Standen obviously have some kind of joint nominee account because there are no 37500 trades reported today @ 16.75 but there is one of 75000. | kingdwg
16/9/2004 10:34 | Disappointing to say the least, fortunately I do not have a position at the moment, however have bought many times in the past. Cannot see the point in buying in right now, I think we could see the price drop into the early teens, with negative press comment etc. I would however be a buyer at the @14p mark as they would offer good value medium term. Divi of course is still very nice. | m5
16/9/2004 09:26 | Hello, I was very surprised to see this warning when I signed in today. Having no position in CPL anymore I know its easy to say but I feel the drop in price has been overdone. The board is very good IMHO and acting quickly shows they know what they are doing. This could fall a little more over the next 3 / 4 trading days but I would not be surprised if in a couple of weeks after the dust has settled these were a few pence higher than they are today. As the statement says the dividend is safe which has to be worth considering. Good luck to all holders in whatever you do. | tuftymatt
16/9/2004 08:30 | It's probably not always a good idea to get back in after the first profits warning. | kingdwg
16/9/2004 08:17 | Utmost commiserations holders. This sort of thing has been happening rather too much lately. | farsight
16/9/2004 08:11 | Overexposed to the North American market - the blame can only reside with the Board. Explanations are needed - otherwise the integrity of the Board will have been seriously been compromised. | seabird
16/9/2004 07:43 | oh dear....! | huntie2

10/8/2004 19:08 | Got my divi cheque today, I confess I sold a few this week (20K) the proceeds of which (plus the divis) have paid for my original stake of 90K purchased at around 6p, but I'm still holding 70K and will continue to hold for a free ride, hopefully in the upward direction! Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in various new issue Venture Capital Trusts which are very, very tax efficient. I'll get a 40% rebate on the investment from the taxman. Yippee! | timbo003
