Not much fun lately, I own CNA, SAGA, and GFRD.
My golf is even worse.
But not to worry, players like myself and Tiger always bounce back.

Jp. Use caution with tax free shares. Don’t buy just because of 0.5% saving. I bought TUI and within 3 months was down 40% . Fortunately it was small cash of a few K I out in.

Yes jp it's all a bit grim at the moment but you win some you lose some but I'll await the next update with interest. As careful put it so well earlier capitalism is dead and big changes are afoot possibly. I'll stick these in the folder under "a dog with flees" for the time being.Enjoy your time not looking at the screens.Good luck

Evening Nortic, yes nice to get away from the markets for a bit. This one is in free-fall. I gave up guessing where it's going. I think Mitchy summed it up here. This board is going down, most have sold up, or give in with them and sold. I will be like you , just put them in the bottom draw. I will carry on buying none stamp duty shares and AIM shares, I think the tax we pay on them is mad when if you bet on the horses you don't have to pay any. Government not going to change it soon , I think they rake in 3 billion pounds a year from us. And for nemesis6 saying he wished Conn was dead makes you wonder why We ever post on here. Taking a break for a bit posting ,Good luck all

Careful - very interesting thoughts. Similar to what I've been thinking for a while but you have now put it so succinctly in black and white I'm re-considering my investment position.

I have a set of shares all UK based and I think all are being affected by this view and current outlook. I thank you for focusing my mind

Capitalism is struggling.
Centrica and many other companies are now run for the benefit of those that work for them or the customers they serve. Especially at the top.

A contempt has grown for 'sleeping partner' owner shareholders such as ourselves, who invest in these companies and own them.

It is a subtle wealth disribution from the owners to the employees and consumers.
Where this new capitalism will end, who knows. It is a sort of socialism.

A fundamental question is being asked, why should anyone be rewarded for allocating capital and doing no work?

Karl Marx asked this question over 100 years ago.
Even in America the like of Bernie Sanders and here Corbyn and Mc.Donnel are proposing a modified form of wealth distribution.

Young people are buying into this also.
There is trouble ahead.

DD... Need all the F luck..... i think i get my inspiration for share dealing from the film "Brewster's Millions" as i seem to keep giving away money rather then earning it. lost 40k Carrillion, 48k on Debenhams, Bought Thomas Cook at 0.85 now 0.25, Bought DC.l at 2.57 now 1.50, Bought AA at 1.92 now 0.83, & finally not least this dog of a share 2.25 now 1.08 and on and on .........lol (laughing insanely). Might as well have done a "Pablo Escobar" as burned it all to keep warm lol .............. Here's to the Future, anyone got a piece of cardboard, A black marker and a rattle tin. im off to hit the high street ......

hifcNo problem, and thanks. The earlier article on the FTSE Dogs was quite interesting, some (my trolls) only saw the title and yet it was quite positive about how a portfolio of high yielding stock can do quite well. Guess though it still relies on selecting value rather than value traps.Good luck.

A few people here completely dismiss talk of a bid/takeover but if share price drops under 100p then surely CNA becomes a very attractive target?

They may stop dividend payments for several years. Tesco went from £4 to £1.50 during this time dividends were suspended. Dividend back and increasing along with s.p.
