This share must be a contrarians dream.
Political danger from Corbyn, aggressive regulation, hostile press, ruthless competition and workforce unrest.

Add to that a share price collapse of over 70% in recent times, it must be too tempting to resist for some.
Can things be that bad?
Conviction buy.

A perfect storm here, one of my major holdings.
Todays Sunday Times reports a call centre strike, some are being made redundant and pay negotiations are ongoing.

The problem is Conns big pay packet.
It is important to control costs ruthlessly and managing 30,000 staff efficiently is vital.
They should be fairly paid, but not over paid.

I worry about the culture within Centrica.
Can it be run tightly without upsetting morale, and has Conn got the moral authority to do it.

Below from last month news...how will it impact CNA?..

Gas heating systems will no longer be allowed in new homes from 2025 under new regulations unveiled by Philip Hammond.

The chancellor of the exchequer announced in his spring statement speech earlier today (13 March) that the government will be introducing a Future Homes Standard that will apply to new dwellings from the middle of this decade.

Under the standard, new houses will have to be installed with “world leading” levels of energy efficiency and low-carbon heating, such as heat pumps rather than gas-fired central heating.

Hammond said: “We will introduce a Future Homes Standard, mandating the end of fossil fuel heating systems in all new houses from 2025.”

The new standard is designed to help to deliver prime minister Theresa May’s pledge last year to at least halve the energy use of new-build properties by 2030.

Here’s some lyrics for Disco Dave, he must be called disco Dave for a reason.

Half past twelve
Watchin' the late show
In my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds blowin' outside the window
As I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me
Chase the shadows away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness
To the break of the day
Movie stars
On end of the rainbow
With a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of TV
I open the window
And I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see no one in sight
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me
Chase the shadows away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness
To the break of the day
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
There's not a soul out there
No one to hear my prayer
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me
Chase the shadows away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness
To the break of the day
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me
Chase the shadows away
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness
To the break of the day

mroalan...you couldn't have said it better...unfortunately some of the posters here are too emotional having bought at higher prices...a lot of CEOs don't have ideas of their own...they are relying on advisers, consultants and investment bankers etc etc etc...

You are a seasoned poster on ADVFN having been there for a long time...regular bluey posters here are newbies on ADVFN...

"Mr Conn down, this bloke ain’t no idiot, otherwise he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in"

to be fair there are plenty of people who serve on boards of PLC,s who are idiots and conn is one of them,he,s making his way in life feathering his nest as he goes.
