whatsup

yes thats my point BG has a loyal customer base that like personal
service, cant be bothered to shop around, and are happy to pay a premium.

CNA need to get new customers on board with their buying power i am sure
they could blow all the parasite companies out the water.

the market seems to be more interested in customer numbers, they need to stop the
outflow .

Aviva does just that. Have been with them for many years and got tired of always asking them to reduce their annual. Did a comparison site and got a quote £200 less.
The company that quoted less was if memory serves right was General insurance . OWNED BY AVIVA

i think its more important to get fresh new customers, you only have to
drop the price for those then, not 8 mill existing.
do it under a new brand, internet based, kill the competition.

Opto.

I’m not saying it’s necessarily the case here but sometimes it’s more profitable to let the customers go. If they wanted to reduce or increase their customers all they would have to do is reduce the bills. They have decided otherwise

Conn has already stated, only 3 months ago, that the Dividend is 'underpinned'.

to buy back today st 130p from 400p is common sense

less shares makes them harder to buy they can restore the div in 12 months

Mr.w

Yes and no .
If the company feels the future is bright then there may be good reason to have debts on your balance sheet . (Tax?). Look at Microsoft, Apple . Billions of debt and yet have hundreds of billions in cash.
If the company feels the company is undervalued then again yes buy the shares back. You can always reissue later. Like SSE who are doing just that and they are in the same sector.
Or Ryanair buying its shares back and growing like the clappers

If Conn hasn't done anything to stem the outflow of customers in the last 6 months then he's a failed man!

using the cash to buy back shares or reduce debt is always good for investors . and any one who does not understand that should not be buying shares

if they reduce the issue from 5,5 b to around 4 b the share price would go up by at least 100p . I love divs but when a share price of any company drops to very low levels its a gift for them to reduce the issue

Conn needs to reverse the out flow of customers,
because thats what the market is is concentrating on.

I'd rather pay off some of the debt than do a share buyback. Share buybacks to me smack of a lack of imagination by a board on how to improve the company

Reason for the share buy back would have been .

If the company found it had excess funds and if the share price at these levels undervalued the company to a large extent . Then it would have been wiser to buy back shares then pay out more in dividends .

Dividend cut does not necessarily equal lower SP

Conn needs to sort out all these parasite companies, by taking them on
and blowing them out the water.
He has made a start with the Electric, as i posted the other day, but nobody
commentated.

Share consolidation equals lower SP
dividend cut equals lower SP
share buyback equals wast of time and money

What is the benefit then? Unless you are talking long term ie. 5 years + there is none.

Why's that? It's all 6 and 2 3s from here, whether they do nothing, buy back, or reduce the divi. There is no real benefit to us shareholders.

If they are going to reduce the divi they should do a share consolidation, 1 for 2 and keep the divi at 12p.

It's not the level of the Dividend that has been responsible for reducing the share price over the past few years.
