It certainly is looking better for the longs now. Seems sentiment has changed for the better.

Back to 140p please.

Was a nice but short upwards movement to 1.2950 then back to the 1.27's.

Lets just hope we get some more of that 1.29 and upwards before the end of the week is out which might show things could take a nice turn into next week.

Still, it may be rather cold out here in North London today, but the Sun is out which makes it so much nicer.

FTSE dropping , now off 70. Following the Yanks.

But now the uncertainty surrounding the Price cap has been lifted, and the resultant settlement not as bad as feared, Utilities may regain their defensive role.

With regret within 10 days you are going to see a firm breach of 1.24 . I suspect if Portside is still averaging lower we will shortly see a notice of a reportable holdings breach

You would be a happy chap to take to a party gaffer73 or whatever alias you are ? Expecting down to start with but Dow was on + 273 at 4.30 close here and it finished -19. With Asian markets in the morning before us, it might not be such a loss.

Luck to all.

Ofgem raised its 'safeguard tariff' level by £57 a year, prompting shares in British Gas owner Centrica (CNA) to rise by 3% to 127.8p. It was chased higher by United Utilities (UU.), which sparked 3% to 712.4p and SSE (SSE), up 2.3% at £12.19.

Yes capeview. It would be nice to hit the 1.30 again. I unfortunately bought two tranches at the wrong price and need 1.87 just to break even, so a long way to go. I will wait to see what the AGM brings then more a less stop looking till they have there next div , than hopefully be back up there. I own no other shares other except these now, so you could say all my eggs in one basket

If CNA was a pupil at school It would read " could do better" on their school report. Let's hope things improve.

From the Telegraph article

"For suppliers rising costs are even higher because they are tasked with rolling out smart meters for households - a cost Ofgem does not include in its calculations for the safeguard tariff.

“This is a well-thought through, mechanistic price cap… that involved us going through the costs extremely carefully,” Mr Nolan ( of Ofgem )said.

Lol !!

I think that article that Whatsup32 picked out was interesting . If we can get a shift in sentiment in this sector then maybe things could start to turn but I'll be cautious until I see some real meat on the bone.I'm interested to see what Deutsche says next after they hit their target of 125

Well, I'm working on getting to those levels which would be nice as I definitely don't own anywhere near what you guys do, but was nice to see a price rise and sort of held too.

Will be interesting to see how tomorrow plays out. Lets just hope it's a rise above £1.30 which would be a nice start.

Utilities doing better today.
First evidence that we may get sensible regulation after all.
CCLN, some smaller energy supplies and train operators going bust has changed the mood of the regulators.

These bankruptcies are government own goals and a gift to Corbyn.

It's nice to see this share finally have a small rise. I just hope it's not a blip or a bump. With one or two zero's on the end would make us all happy. ;)
