Got our Q4 energy bill. It was only slightly up on last year's fairly average Q4, based on an estimated reading. I thought they might have understimated, since Nov and Dec were significantly colder than average here. Actual readings showed about 25% above their estimated consumption so we now owe them a big figure and will have to increase payments eventually. To make matters worse, January is also off to a cold start so far.

I think the rest of the UK is not quite as bad but will be probably showing 10-15% higher winter energy consumption. (The link is to gas demand but electricity demand has been at the grid's supply limit several times this winter so is probably as bad.)

No serious stockmarket correction coming anytime soon Tim.

Trumps corporate tax cuts have seen to that. Then theres furthur US growth from infrastructure spend to come. As you will know, the FTSE will kinda follow the master like all good dogs do.

Not sure where this leaves CNA. If I'm honest I dont know much about them. Only here for a few pence profit on this dip !

Have been waiting over a year for a correction!

Am very cautious particularly as some stocks seem to be held up by little more than thin air.

Although no doubt cna would be caught up with it a correction could signal a move to defensives aa people start looking at fundamentals like yield and pe again.

seems so predictable now. only a fool like myself would sell at 140p just when the rise has started!

well i bought below 137p just over a week ago so lets see if we see 136s or lower again. market indices esp. US at all-time high. if you not nervous you should be.

Think it is 2nd or 3rd time CNA has failed around the 146 - 147p area on a bounce...

We're already half way.

And that's without the precipitous fall last year.
