14/12/2021 11:19 | like a lifeboat, every country should have a "maximum occupancy" limit, but we seem to think we can just keep piling people onto the boat, and then wonder why it's sinking | deanroberthunt
14/12/2021 11:13 | I'd like to think medicine and treatments have come along way in 40 plus years and perhaps has gone some way in reducing the need for as many hospital beds. That said covid, has outed them for running it all on an absolute minimum basis for years, which has left them with zero ability to protect the NHS in a time of crisis. Far too many people dying and going undiagnosed because of covid rather than from covid and that is personal experience not a reddit or twitter news article. | plat hunter
14/12/2021 10:56 | deanroberthunt Post 50780 "hospitals are overwhelmed because they're inefficient, full of people that don't need to be there, but too scared of chucking em out in case one goes pete tong and they get sued....." Apparently, since 1980, we have 50% fewer hospital beds but 10million more people. erm, even tim nicebut dim can see the problem here. Hospitals are inefficient, £114bn per annum speant on NHS, yet every winter we have a crisis. A crisis of beds, a crisis of nurses, etc etc. That's because the NHS is the 3rd largest employer in THE WORLD and it is run on communist principles. There is too much waste, and, clearly, too many chiefs and not enough indians. | geckotheglorious
14/12/2021 10:52 | deanroberthunt Post 50770 "fwiw I think you should get jabbed if you are very old or have a serious pre-existng condition that makes you high risk, otherwise, ....up to you" My sentiments too. I'd certainly not be vaxxing children either unless they had a pre-existing condition that made them vulnerable. Yet the global push is to vax kids - across the board, including 1-2 year olds. I'm gobsmacked. | geckotheglorious
14/12/2021 10:49 | spawny100 Post 50768 "Well Covid has certainly brought the latent totalitarian fascists out of hiding that's for sure. Brexit had already emboldened them" Hmmm, agree with the first sentence. Not sure sure about the second. I'd wager that most peopke qurestrioning veracity of vaccines, vaccine passports/mandatory vaxxes and all this totalitarian nonsense(Quarantine of british populace but Illegals allowed to come and go as they wish through a porous border) are Brexiteers. They won't be Remainers. For a variety of obvious reasons. Personally the Illegal border crossings could be stopped in 24-48 hours. Australia showed how and in similar fashion we too are an island. Our political class just lacks the will to do what needs to be done. | geckotheglorious

14/12/2021 10:10 | ....those who are scared should lock themselves away in their under stairs cupboard and be fed liquids through a hole, and the rest of us can party like it's 1999. it's a shame covid couldn't mutate to target the sheep who believe all the lies and propaganda...maybe they can man make one in a lab in China... | deanroberthunt

14/12/2021 10:07 | Spawny ...no, the gov are just doing what they believe is the best course of action. Yes, we might disagree with some of their decisions eg keeping pubs, rests, cafes, clubs open etc seems nuts to me. Id shut the lot ...no compensation. Capitalism rules in these cases. Yes the gov are economical with the truth especially when they.re thinking about the greater good ...I admit it. What irks me, is when BoJo acts , not bcos of scientific advice, bit to appease their own party infighting. Scum ,I say.Still think youre nuts and selfish mind ...cant help it in light of the known 'facts' where the vast majority of the science supports my stance not your conspiracy, Qanon twaddle theories. Brutal I know. You should be locked down. | amanitaangelicus
14/12/2021 09:59 | Rose ...nope, the vaccinated are defo spreaders. No herd immunity for sure. However, I believe that the many vaccinated arent as infectious for as long as the unvaccinated due to prior T cell, B cell, antibody stuff brought on by being vaccinated. No doubt you wont agree and point me in the direction of some medical crackpot out there.It.s the same reason why younger kids arent as good spreaders as older peeps. Their immune system is so fast and strong ,the virus rarely gets a chance ... | amanitaangelicus
14/12/2021 09:51 | AA- you are still holding on to the idea that the un-vaccinated spread the virus while the vaccinated do not. It is the other way round. Vaccine passports provide the opportunity for asymptomatic carriers (vaccinated people with the virus with mild or no symptoms who may not even know they are carriers) to mix in crowded venues or travel internationally in aircraft, thereby infecting others, while unvaccinated people that catch the virus will be isolating or in hospital. That is the argument against vaccine passports. They are actually counterproductive. I posted a link to a news story of exactly this happening, a vaccinated traveller arriving from abroad and infecting over sixty other people. Only made the news because he was a "celebrity socialite". How many others aren't reported? Here it is again: | rose_by_another_name

14/12/2021 09:46 | Sounds like you're half awake to me amanita but still can't quite let go of the cosy fantasy of a benevolent government caring for our health. | spawny100
14/12/2021 09:44 | body is working overtime just to keep their lard asses from keeling over from basic functions, so it has no remaining capacity to fight an adversary, of any kind | deanroberthunt
14/12/2021 09:43 | Steve ...agree ...gov blagging goin on. They.re very reluctant to tell us any detail ...the gov is using all modes of fear generation to get us boosted at the mo ...defo. This is why so many dont trust a non transparent gov. The morons will always fall for the conspiracy sites, but normal peeps will begin to doubt themselves, the gov etc ...dripping tap and all that. And it gives the likes of Dim Dean et al to gain a foothold. Most of their links are truly dire. | amanitaangelicus
