neat analysis, wrtmf.

I will add that a goal was scored by a January signing, with an assist from a January signing shows that good business was done in the window. The issue is performances, not pleurs.

'Australia striker Marco Tilio has returned to Melbourne City on loan having made only two substitute appearances totalling 18 minutes for Celtic in his six months with the Scottish champions. The 22-year-old is currently in Qatar with his national squad and has made one brief substitute appearance in a 1-1 draw with Uzbekistan in the Asian Cup. Tilio is "thrilled" that, following the tournament, he will return to a side sitting sixth in the A-League and hopes to gain extra game time to ensure a place in the Socceroos squad for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. "The memories and experiences from my time here are unforgettable and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success once again," he told Melbourne's club website. In his previous three seasons there, Tilio scored 20 goals and provided 19 assists in 86 appearances as he helped City win one Championship and a record-breaking three consecutive Premierships. That led to an Australian record transfer to Celtic in June, but he has been unable to break into the first-team squad in Glasgow. Head coach Aurelio Vidmar is "delighted to welcome a player of Marco’s calibre back" to the club. "His technical ability, vision and ability to run at defenders will make him an asset to our team," he added.'

'Alistair Johnston's first-minute goal wins it for Celtic, but Brendan Rodgers will be far from pleased with that performance. They dominated possession, but there was precious little cutting edge from the Premiership leaders. Luis Palma twice missed from the spot, yes, but County will feel they could, and maybe should, have pinched a point from this game.'

very sloppy

Cup win yesterday included a goal from two 'project' pleurs, Bernardo and Holm. A goal from a pleur that was a downgrade on the pleur he replaced (Palma/Jota) and an assist from a pleur that's not good enough to play for Celtic, Mikey Johnston.

My point being that when the manager gets the most out of the pleurs that the business model and recruit team have brought to the club, they clearly comprise many match-winners.

The recruitment team are excellent and the board are pursuing the right model for the plc AND the team.

blimey, some reactionary stuff there, typical of match attendees.

Celtic are top, performing less well in the league than they did last year but delivered a superior Champions League points haul.

Sure, Hart needs replacing. No argument.

But running a football club properly requires compromising to preserve the financial position. It's not a sweetshop.

The experience of the last three years is that the Celtic model WORKS and these guys want to rip it up.

Surely Nawrocki, Furuhashi, Hatate, Palma, Juranovic, Giakoumakis count as experienced pleurs?

Shareholders like me shudder at the idea of this line of thought taking hold.

Lee: Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United is a shout.

Michael: Scott McKenna on a free.

Gordy: The three biggest areas we need to improve are goalkeeper, left-back and a physical centre forward to support and play alongside Kyogo Furuhashi. The midfield also needs a boost, no offence to the guys currently in those positions but physically we need to improve.

Shaun: I have no confidence in the board or Brendan Rodgers signing good experienced players after hearing they are signing someone from the South Korea league, that is another player off to the Asia Cup if we do sign him.

John: I’d like to see a couple of players who can roll up their sleeves, mix it up and do the dirty side of football.

Rangers add two to their goal difference, Celtic add three.

Two assists last night from Paulo Bernardo, a pleur dismissed by some Celtic fans as a 'project player' etc. only recently!

Hail to the board and the recruitment team. I can see another profit for shareholders coming down the line.

It's amazing what results Celtic can get domestically when pleurs are performing nearer their ability.

3 points was all that mattered yesterday.

Hatate and Abada back and hopefully carter-Vicjers in few weeks along with a couple of signings should see us push on.

Bringing on Turnbull, Oh, Mikey Johnston and Abada's first minutes in month weakened the team at the end of the game.

that's a swap this shareholder would take. Celtic get compensated for Rodgers, bringing in millions and then Celtic appoints Eddie Howe.

Although I'm not convinced that Howe is any better of a manager????

I see we have an area commander of the Green Brigade among us ;-)

no apology needed Mick, it's football and I'm happy to disagree. Of course, I'm not even a fan and don't watch the games so can claim no expertise.

I'm just saying that there is a case to be made.

None of the assists or goals scored yesterday were from an Ange Postecoglou eleven. Apparently Jota has been frozen out in Saudi Arabia: maybe he would like to stay and take the pay but I've seen no reports of a European club looking to pay the sort of money that Celtic got for him.
